OpenLibrary.org
Having access to public information was very important for Aaron
Aaron vs the Pacer System
The Pacer system is where all the federal court
records are stored
So what Aaron did?
he
Pacer was free in some libraries of some states
Python FTW!
recursively downloaded all documents
Aaron wrote a script that
Aaron was scouted by the FBI but did not press
charges
had to change their policies about the
documents
And ultimate the government
His passion for knowledge and libraries
kept going
And began to look and academic articles
All the work, the knowledge is lock away
By multibillion dollars company
Aaron got into MIT and realize that they had
access to those articles
He got into MIT and register and new labtop

Because Wifi was slow he plugged his PC to the
network
But they found it...
They didn't unplug it
They didn't turn it off
They installed a camera...
Police arrest him shortly
And the investigation was taken over by the Secret
Service
And was being charge as a “terrorist”
As a “hacker”
And described as a thief
It was bad timing for Aaron
Wikileaks had just started leaking
Bradley Manning had leaked info
So Aaron got all the attention of the Criminal
System
He was offered a deal if he plead guilty
5 years and 1 million dollars!
He was used to set an Example!!
He rejected the deal!
In the mean time, while the case was worked out
Aaron became the go to person of internet things
And was in the news a lot
But not always for good things
On July 14, 2014 Aaron was indicted on 4 felony
charges
And they arrested him and put him in solitary
confinement
He is now facing 35 YEARS in prison
Later that day he is release by paying 100,000
bale
The same day Jstor drop the charges and decline
to keep the case
But the government will keep the case
They wanted to make an example out of Aaron
But he continue to be outspoken about internet
issues
Now against a bill to control the internet
SOPA
SOPA ?
He setup a VOIP service to call Congress
Million on people called
And congress become to wonder...
And everything when black
But the happiness was not long
A year after it, Aaron was arrested
They added 13 felony counts
He was isolated from friends and family
He was restricted in every way
Aaron rejected the plea deal and a trial date was
set
He got depressed under all the pressure
And the worst happened
The world has lost one of the great
minds of our generation
We can all change the world!
