The Integration Project The Integration Project aims to help migrants develop linguistic & cultural skills to adapt to their host country. The main objective is to design a platform which is cost effective and practical so users access regularly. For the purposes of this assignment we are using Sydney, Australia as the destination point.

The Integration Project The Integration project is aimed at migrants who require a cost effective wayof learning English and gaining insights into the culture they are now living in Online platform available via a website and as a mobile application Designed to encourage migrants to register and use regularly by offeringpractical tips and advice in English and other languages Include updates on cultural events and information on national holidays inconcise formats At its core are sets of modules set out to help users learn English 3. The Integration ProjectThe online communityDiscussion boards to encourage an online community that help each other toadjust to life in their new city/country This section is to foster a community for users Users will be encouraged to post information others may find useful andleave feedback on their own experiences A gamified reward point system is incorporated to encourage activity andinteraction of users Boards linked to the English language course will be grouped separately 7. Users may be time poor therefore information concerning events theydont yet feel connected to has to be concise 8. The Integration ProjectShort modules for practical English lessons Low level modules will be restricted to 3-5 hour sessions. This is due to thetype of language input at this level. It is also to give students a faster sense ofaccomplishment to motivate them further Students are allocated different level as they progress through the course.When a student starts the course they are assigned a buddy from a highergrade. Later, as they move up to the higher levels they assigned a buddy froma lower level. Buddies offer help & advice and help foster the communityelement of the learning environment The modules also incorporate a gamified point system that encourages andrewards students accomplishment and involvement in the community 9. The Integration ProjectShort modules for practical English lessonsModules will include input sessions and testing but will focus on practical skills Example 1: Lower level language learners will take a Getting started modulewhich includes; greetings, numbers, giving personal details, asking forinformation etc. Example 2: Higher level language learners will take a CVs & Interviewsmodule to help them develop language skills for gaining employment Students can work at their own pace but can only progress through the firstmodules sequentially 10. The Integration ProjectModule overview Entry level modules will be assessed through online multiple choice questionsand therefore will not require a tutor to assist except to monitor messageboards for questions Buddies for this level will have the same linguistic background where possible Getting Started modules e.g greetings, numbers, giving and asking for information Level 1 Freer practice, pair/ group work Students assigned a new primary buddy Level 2 Students able to develop their own learning plans Students become a buddy to lower level students Level 3 11. The Integration ProjectModule overview Level 3 modules will require students to develop their own learning plans andreflect on their own cognitive processes Tutors will encourage group work and peer correction but will assess someassignments Students will be encouraged to submit suggestions for group work based ontheir own learning needs Students will be assigned as a buddy to lower level students 16. The Integration Project Students collaborate on more challenging tasks such as creating podcasts or videos Content that reflects students interests Use local media as source material to further students cultural integration Encourage students to blog as a group reporting on what they have read, seen, experienced 17.
