Players receive their invitations for earning one of two distinctions in the year pre-ceeding the tournament (that is, from GenCon to GenCon): Winning a state or regional championship or for winning a Proving Ground League. Further, players will also receive an invitation spot for plac-ing in the Secret War Society’s top 10 for the previous calendar year. The tournament will include four swiss rounds with top honors going to the highest game points after the four-hour event. Best of luck to all competitors!

It was to be a simple mission: run-ning gunfights, vehicle chases and keep-ing them busy while Silverback and his troops did their thing. I should have brushed up on local traffic laws. I defi-nitely shouldn’t have attracted the at-tention of the local gendarmes. Luckily, Shiva was able to talk our way out of it before we had to start blazing our way out. By the time we caught up with the BATS, they were on to us and waiting. I looked over at our simian support group. The marmojets and simian

sneakers were happily stuffing their mouths with fruit. Stuff blew up; they destroyed things and lived to eat more oranges and bananas. Life for them was good. If only I could be like that.

June 12, 2060: Back at the Chimp Shack, we all sat around the main room, relaxing and en-joying ourselves after a successful trip. We tangled with some tentacles and burned Seal Beach. That Feng Shui site had been holding us back for a while, but with it out of the way, we were free to make more strikes against the Ascended closer to Los Angeles. I looked over to where Ace and Helen usually sat

Oct 22, 2062: “It’s okay Gaffer, you’re only human,” Shiv said. I shook my head. Our mis-sion to neutralize Buro Assault Team Sigma was a resound-ing failure. We sure blew stuff up, vehicles ablaze, buildings crumbling and destruction ev-erywhere. Unfortunately, the BATS got out intact and pre-vented Silverback’s sortie against the Hidden Temple of the Spider

and my mood darkened. “Hey Gaffer, cheer up. You’re only human,” Kali said as I thought of how I let my mates down and cost them their lives. My first mission and I screwed it up. I knew I let them down, but they wouldn’t say anything and just passed around the whiskey. We succeeded and I should feel better, but I couldn’t get their faces out of my head. I took a long pull from the bottle and passed it on and went outside. In the clearing, the Apes of Wrath were grinning and dancing, the empty bottles of beer littering the jungle floor. I stood there against a rubber tree watch-ing them. They seemed so uncaring that half their number were missing. I guess it just meant more beer for the survivors.

September 20, 2065: They stopped giving me partners. I tend to get them killed. At least now when I goof up, I only risk myself. If there were a ‘getting out’ of the secret war, I’m sure they would have had me retire. Unfortunately once you’re in-volved, you’re involved to the death. If I weren’t relatively successful, I’m sure I’d have had a .38 slug in the back of my head by this time. I motioned over to the Gorilla Fighters and Brass Monkeys I commanded and waved them on. They bared their teeth, screeched and charged forwards

at the monks protecting the Ancient Temple. Grabbing my weapon and pull-ing the pin on a grenade, I grinned and joined them.

No date: I swam up through the haze of the an-esthetic and pain killers. I heard a voice, the voice was deep and sonorant. “You’ll be ok,” it said. My memories slowly trickled back. The assault on the Jagged Cliffs, the Fly-ing Monkeys and I, swooping down as the brave villagers, ex-commandos and Iala Mane stood against us. The carnage, bloodshed and mayhem that ensued… and the falling, oh, the falling… “Sleep, Gaffer.” I heard as a machine vaguely beeped slowly in the background. I didn’t feel the pain of loss as I thought about the rest of my team as they lay, bodies twisted, around me. I was oddly at peace. Months passed. “Weclome back, Gaffer.” BattleChimp said as I hung on a branch, effortlessly doing pull-ups. I was in Ape City, out of recovery and going through physical therapy.I looked at him and grinned widely as I held onto the branch with one foot, held two fusion blasters in my hands and an orange in my other foot. Sighting down the range, I blew the target in half. Life was good, the beer was cold and I was no longer, “only human.”

CASTING CALLEver wonder what a real Shadowfist movie would be like? We at Inner Kingdom Games have wondered for years and we’re finally ready to put the debate to bed! Here we explore who would best take on the redoubt-able roles of our favorite Shadowfist characters! First up for this month: The Dragons!

Best to start with the iconic mascot of Shadowfist: the legendary Ting Ting. For such an important role, we look no further than the beautiful and skilled Michelle Reis, who, it’s worth noting, has already played Ting Ting: in Jet Li’s classic Fong Sai Yuk films.

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that 80s icon Ted Theodore Logan not only looks the part of Silver Jet bodyguard “The Golden Gunman,” he also already knows kung fu, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Keanu Reeves, you’re our man here.

She’s smart. She’s techie. She’s the de facto leader of the Dragons when the big man’s out winning battles. She’s the Prof and no one could fill those shoes (or blouse) better than veteran actress Kathy Bates.

Master of the World. Pretty much says it all and when we think of great masters, we invariably think of the incomparable Chow Yun Fat. To best fit the look, see him in Golden Flower rather than one of his hair-less roles like Crouching Tiger.
