About the Seminar :About 70% of the Indian population is rural. In spite of the fast development of the country's economy and

science & technology especially during the last two and a half decades, the country has not seen much effective implementation of its science and technology in the rural development. However, the modern technology has radically fast transformed the human history. Now the world has entered into the early stages of Industry. Unlike the

thprevious three Industrial Revolutions, the 4 Industrial Revolution has many unique characteristics. The Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0 is considered to be the convergence of the physical world, the digital world and the biological world covering almost all the disciplines of science and social science including farming and agriculture. India with the past glory of scientific achievements right from the Vedic period in the fields of medicine, agriculture, astronomy, mathematics, etc., our scientists and technologists need to engage in making India prepared for the global challenges of Industry 4.0 with a focus on agriculture, modern farming technologies, new crop patterns, plant genetics, an all-round rural progress, etc. Our science and technology have to be oriented and match with the global challenges, whether it is the energy technology, farming technology, irrigation technology, industrial technology, engineering and medical, rural development, etc. The convergence of basis science, and social science with the technology is very important for an over-all growth of the rural development.
