The Importance of Kids Learning Brazilian
JiuJitsu
Martial arts have long been used by parents to teach certain values and
provide exercise for their children. Though there are many great types of
martial arts to choose from, one of the best types you can use in today’s
society is Brazilian JiuJitsu. Not only is this a great pastime that teaches
self-defense and provides an outlet for energy – it’s also great for other
reasons.
Here are the top three:
Teaches Respect
In a society that is ever-influenced by media, music, and movies, it is
very important that your child learns how to respect others and
themselves. In fact, BJJ begins to instill the virtues of respect very
quickly. This is especially true because the training is done on a regular
schedule. Your child will be humbled, as they must learn how to respect
others on the mat; they then take this same discipline into the real world.
With the self respect they learn, this can prevent them from making bad
decisions in the future, as they are more apt for overcoming peer
pressure.
Encourages Exercise and a Healthy Lifestyle
When you enroll your child in Brazilian JiuJitsu, he or she will be
promoted to live a healthier life. Before you know it your child will want
to train daily, eat healthier foods, and even continue to take good care of
themselves into adulthood. Since BJJ is known for being very addictive,
you’ll notice that your child wants to train more, play fewer video
games, and watch less TV. This is great way to make sure your child
gets enough exercise both mentally and physically. The other part is that
if you give your child a hobby or outlet, he or she is less likely to turn to
a life of drugs or crime.
Protects the Child from being Bullied
As you hear of more and more children being bullied at school, BJJ is a
great concept because it teaches your child how to defend him or herself.
The fact is that if you arm your child with the disciplinary actions of BJJ
and other measures to prevent bullying, this knowledge empowers them
to defend themselves in a safe manner that prevents permanent damage
to themselves or the tormentor. The entire concept behind BJJ teaches
people who are weaker and smaller to defend themselves from assailants
that are much stronger and bigger. BJJ teaches them this by showing the
proper techniques of taking the fight and bully to the ground. The defeat
comes from using techniques such as chokeholds and joint-locks.
History has shown that Brazilian JiuJitsu is a very comprehensive way to
teach anti-bullying and self-defense measures.
In the end, your child will thank you and you’ll be happy you chose
Brazilian JiuJitsu. In just a few short visits you will already notice
positive changes in your child. You can rest assured knowing that you’ll
raise a well-rounded child who respects others and themselves, and can
also defend against bullies and other assailants if needed.
