Philip Kingston was elected to the Dallas City Council on June 24, 2013 representing Council District 14, which includes Downtown Dallas, Uptown, historic East Dallas, Turtle Creek, and Oak Lawn. Mayor Mike Rawlings appointed Philip as Chair of the Arts, Culture & Libraries Committee, Vice Chair of the Ad Hoc Judicial Nominations Committee and as a member to the Police & Fire Pen- sion Board, Finance & Audit Committee, Housing Committee and Ad Hoc Legislature Committee In his professional career as a lawyer, Philip has been recog- nized as a Rising Star by Texas Monthly Magazine in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011. He is a founding member of the Dallas Bar Associations Public Forum Committee and was chair in 2010. In that role, he has brought some of the most important civic lead- ers in Dallas to the Bar for speaking events and debates. Philip has a long-standing commitment to legal services to the poor having received the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Programs Out- standing Clinic Attorney of the Year Award three times for his work at the West Dallas Clinic. He travels to West Dallas to volun- teer because thats where the clients need legal advice in Span- ish. He is also an alumnus of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers2004 Leadership Class. Keyhan and Simon related to HHS Interact in Nicaragua by Ley Waggoner On Saturday John Brown, Andy Carothers, and Cindy Cummings drove a group of Interact Club mem- bers to the Trinity River Audubon Cen- ter for a work day the Club how they carried 5 gallon water containers about one kilometer from the well to the homes of the locals they were helping. To find that there was no running water in these homes was an eye opening experience for these Sophomores a t HHS. They helped paint buildings, do maintenance work and also had time to play with local kids. One memory - one simple ball created hours of play time for the local kids. Even when the ball was deflated, they kept on playing with it. Keyhan and Simon told the group that they very much appreciate what they have at home, were very glad to have had the opportunity to go on this trip and that they highly recommend future HHS Interact students going. Being actively involved in District 14 neighborhood leadership roles since 2000. Philip Kingston was elected to the Dallas City Council on June 24, 2013 representing Council District 14, which includes Downtown Dallas, Uptown, historic East Dallas, Turtle Creek, and Oak Lawn.

Patterson had passed away, that Janie Loveless was recovering from back surgery and that Rex Jennings was back in the hospital. PP Rick Amsberry led the Pledge of Allegiance and the “Star Spangled Banner.”. Cub Amos, as-sisted by Will Reppeto with the mike, intro-duced our guests, including a long-distance visiting Rotarian from Baytown, and PDG Frank Meyer. Teri Thomas introduced our Marketplace Advertiser of the week. PP Greg Pape introduced Charlie Bond, a third-level major donor to the Rotary Foundation. Charlie explained that his family had decid-ed years ago to recognize an RCPC member as an honorary Paul Harris Fellow every year to honor is father-in-law and former RC PC member Jere Elliott. This year the recipi-ent of this honor was Kathleen Klaviter. President Eric ex-plained that VP Dwight Clasby had resign-ed to take a job in Colorado, and the process the Board decided to find a replacement. PP Cleve Clinton, the chair of the Nominating

brought flags from his visit to Rotary Clubs in Guyana. Gerry has brought flags from five countries so far!

Charles Polansky introduced our speaker today, Gail Thomas, President and CEO of the Trinity Trust Foundation. She explained that the Trinity Trust Foundation is only one of many organizations working on the Trinity Project. She believes that revitalizing the Trinity is regaining the soul of the city. The role of the Trinity Trust Foundation is to pro-vide amenities along the river. As a part of the plan, there will be two lakes near downtown. Among the amenities being planned are pop up parks, a water maze, and a playground.

Our current RCPC Vice-President/ Presi-dent-elect Dwight Clasby tendered his resig-nation to the RCPC Board of Directors at the monthly meeting and advised that he accepted a great job with the University of Colorado in Boulder. Dwight and Julie will be moving to Boulder next month. At the direction of President Heitkamp. Cleve Clinton, chair of the Nominating Com-mittee, reconvened the committee to consider options and recommendations for the RCPC Board of Directors’ consideration. The report of the Nominating Committee, as presented to the RCPC BOD in the monthly March BOD meeting, was that Tracy Gomes, Vice- President elect for the 2015-2016 Rotary year serve as Vice-President through the end of the 2014-2015 year and that Tracy become the 2015-16 Pre-sident Elect. The Nominating Committee further

vice-president for the 2015-2016 Rotary year. Further, the Nominating Committee report sug-gested that its report and recommendations be implemented by notice to the regular member-ship this Friday, be posted in The Hub this week and last and that a vote on the Nominating Committee report be held with the general mem-bership at the Club’s regular meeting on Friday, March 27, 2015. The Nominating Committee report, in its entirety, was considered and unanimously approved by the RCPC BOD.
