PolyU students say why they join CMTEX …
Return Student’s SharingHaving an exchange is one of my dream in my university life. Although credit transfer is required for exchange, I chose subjects mainly based on my interests. Before joining the exchange programme, I didn’t enjoy learning even I have been studying for 20 years. With the exchange experience, I however started treasuring the opportunity of studying in a university.
I tried to sit in different courses and I found the happiness of learning! I was deeply impressed by the strong academic atmosphere and the study attitude of students in mainland. The professor in Tongji University brought different construction materials to the class, shared his research results and even did some experiments during the lesson. It’s really practical and pleasant to sit in this course.
One of the most indelible experience was, I had a chance to attend the Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo 2018. I was honored to be in AssociazioneNuova Generazione Italo-Cinese (ANGI), one of the organizer of the Expo which held an Italy China Architecture Forum and invited 10 architects from Italy to share and exchange their professional ideas and opinions in the forum. Mostly surprisingly, I acquired a gift from Mr. Guido Montanari, the Vice Mayor of Torino!! It was an extraordinary and priceless reward in my exchange.
Mountaineering in Anhui with “Fudan University Mountaineering Expedition Association” was a remarkable trip in my exchange life. Although there were bruise and pain on my knees, I was happy that I could reach the mountain summit with 1700m+ within 15 hours. The Nature let me realise how tiny I am and what my problems are. Amy Lai (BRE)
2018/19 Semester 1 exchange in Tongji University, Shanghai
The difference of the lecture and students between Hong Kong and Taiwan is that students in Taiwan are willing to ask questions when they do not understand during the lessons, but it is rarely to happen the same in Hong Kong. I appreciate that Taiwan teachers are always ready and willing to answer questions after lectures and are willing to discuss the career path with students. They also encourage discussion during lectures. Although they distributed a lot of homework to us every week, I still found the lectures were full of fun and valuable.
Before the exchange, I have not decided whether I should find a job or continue my study as a postgraduate. The lecture at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) gave me a lot of good advice and inspired me a lot. With his inspiration, I have a much clear picture for my career and study plan.

Return Student’s Sharing
Meeting friends from other countries is also a valuable experience in this exchange program. I have met friends from Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Germany, etc. All of them are very nice and they have much interest in Asian culture, especially theEuropean. I always having fun with them in the dormitory and in school. We always drank and had dinner when we were free. It was my honor to meet all of them in this exchange program!
