OUR MISSION
We, the faith community of St. Joseph Parish,
Kingston-Plympton, believe that we are called
daily to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ:
to learn, to share, and to live the message of Jesus. Guided by
the Holy Spirit we recognize that we are unique with diverse
gifts from God and that as Christ's disciples we are to develop
these gifts of Time-Talent-Treasure, to nurture and strengthen
our families, our community, our nation, and our world.

From the desk of our Pastor
Dear Friends,
Christmas was glorious! The music was awesome and I want to thank Liz Sculley, our Director of Music and the
childrens and adult choir as well, as the cantors for the beautiful and inspiring music. Well done!
I also want to thank Stephanie Joubert and Debbie Woodbury and their crew for the wonderful decorations that truly
transformed our church and Our Lady’s Hall. Steve Medlin did an amazing job making sure that the outside lights and
manger scene have been in place during Advent, as well as setting up the largest Christmas tree in town and placing it
in the sanctuary.
To the Ushers, Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors, thank you so much for your important ministry, not only
at Christmas time but throughout the year as well.
A special thanks goes to Ellen Gunning whose help was instrumental in setting up the Family Mass in the Church.
I want to give a special word of thanks to our wonderful Teens who spent hours setting up Our Lady’s Hall for the
second Christmas Eve Mass at 4:00. We are so blessed to have such a large group of High School students who are so
willing to serve their parish.
I want to thank Walter Shea and the many members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society who made sure that over 60
families received a ham or turkey dinner as well as presents for the children. I want to thank the many parishioners
who contributed more than $3,000 in gift cards so that the society could provide this greatly needed service.
Finally, I want to thank my staff for another year of dedicated service to me and to all of you. They are the best!
The office will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 31st as well as Friday, Jan. 1st.
Happy New Year,
Fr. Wally
GRAND ANNUAL COLLECTION
To date we have raised $27,475 for the Grand Annual collection. The finance council has budgeted $50,000
for this financial campaign which is the amount raised two years ago. The council suggests a donation from
each family or individual in the amount of $250. The pastor and the finance council are very aware that
some individuals/families can’t contribute that amount of money but others can give more than the
suggested amount. We count on everyone’s generosity to help us reach our goal of $50,000 so that our
budget will remain balanced and all of our programs can continue unimpeded. Thank you for your contin-
ued generosity in helping us to keep our budget balanced. Envelopes for this important campaign can be
found at the entrances of the Church.
PARISH FINANCES: The collection for the offertory on the weekend of December 20 was $8,316.00. The
budgeted amount needed per week is $6,500. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.

The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph
Every parent of a teenager can relate to this Gospel. The worry,
the relief, the admonishment. The 12 year-old Jesus seems a bit
cavalier about his parents’ concern but when they returned
home, he “was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these
things in her heart. And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and
favor.” We do not hear from him again for 18 years. The vocation
of parent is not always easy. Pray in a special way today for all
parents, grandparents, and caregivers.

Irving Beaman, Carl Boman, Pauline & Edward Hurley, Mr. Steven Parks, Mrs. Beverly
Parks, Mrs. Barbara Day, Leah Zink, and for the
deceased members of the Martin family.

Special words of appreciation go to Mrs. Erin Kramer, the director; to Ms. Abby Kramer and Ms. Emily O’Neill, who coached the first and second grade angels; to Ms. Elizabeth Sculley and the Children’s Choir for the music; and, to the Burke Family for allowing Baby Daniel to play the role of Baby Jesus. Meet Fr. Vin −The Gift of Family
As the pastor of three parishes in Dorchester and Mattapan, Fr. Vin’s responsibilities are extraordinary. While his daily work is a source of great joy, it’s the love and devotion of a special sister named Connie that restores his spirit.
When Fr. Vin’s parents passed away, he and his sister Eileen became the sole guardians of their disabled sister. For Fr. Vin, being a brother and a priest for Connie is an immense blessing. The unconditional love that he receives from Connie—especially at the end of a busy day— continues to fill his heart with gratitude.
Fr. Vin selflessly dedicates his life in service to others. This Christmas, show your gratitude with a gift that cares for Fr. Vin and the health and well-being of all the priests who faithfully serve our Archdiocese of Boston.
Text the word PRIEST to 56512 or make a gift through your parish collection at Christmas Mass.
Thank you for your generous support of the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust.
