First Shot Sequence

• The first shot sequence is all in black and white. Sticking to the Hives theme. It uses a newspaper effect, where the band is pictured playing in where the picture would be. The band are all playing their instruments and framed in different poses. The shot is mainly special effects, even the moving image of the band is cartoony.

Second Shot Sequence

• The second shot sequence introduces the entire band. They aren’t playing their instruments anymore, but are all pictured in separate shots with a story being told by the text underneath

Video Effects

• This video has lots and lots of effects in it. The main one being the cartoon type style it is filmed in. With fake/drawn background and a comical effect of movement.

• There are a lot of shots where the lead singer has been multiplied and is shown singing the song. However, there is a lack of shots of the rest of the band playing their instruments which is a huge contrast to the ‘Hate to say I told you so’ Video.

Video Effects

• At some points during the chorus of the video, the lyrics appear in an animated text form across the screen in big bold letters.

• There are a lot of shots where the band, or members of the band, appear in picture frames/posters.

Video Style• Sticking to The Hives’ style, the entire

band are wearing matching outfits. They are smartly dressed like all of their other outfits and once again in B&W which also matches the video style. The video is quite cartoony/Comic book-esque, especially the movement. The background are all cg and looks like a painting/drawing.

Summary

• This video is very different to the ‘Hate to say I told you so’ as the video is mainly special effect based. It has barely any shots of the bands playing their instruments apart from occasionally a few shots of the singer. The whole video is in black and white which is similar to Hate to say I told you so, which also has de-saturated colours. This video also tells a story and has a timeline, which contrasts with Hate to say I told you so which is mainly focusing on the band playing instruments.
