On April 1st, Mrs. Rose Cowler was appointed as the librarian. The First 50 Years Timeline In February 25, 1936 the library opened to the public. The library was moved to a new location to the west side of Bergenline Avenue in July 20, Then July 15, 1949 the library moved to a newer location at 7827 Bergenline Avenue. Continued December 1956: The Main and the Branch Librarys first inventory was taken. 1964: Docustat coin-operated photocopy machine was installed to enable borrowers to copy personal and library material. September 1969: Spanish language books collection was initiated with 100 titles. Continued 1975: The card catalog was simplified into 3 sections: author, title, and subject. 1977: The clerical staff purchased the first typewriter to use. 1978: Both reference and children's librarians were hired. 1979: To conduct film programs for children, a 16mm projector and screen purchased.
