Horror

Horror is an ancient art form. Horror movies serve both purposes. They deliver thrills, as well as telling us stories of the dark, forbidden side of life and also death.

From the viewers the makers of horror films expect to give the audience a lot of unpleasant emotions such as fear, disgust horror, cringe, scream, scared, petrified and heart racing. Horror movies often feature scenes that startle the viewer through the means of the supernatural, overlapping with the fantasy, science fiction and thriller genres.

The term "horror movie" first appeared in the writings of the films response to Dracula (1931) and Frankenstein (1931).

Horror films include what they think the viewers nightmares are , hidden worst fears and terror of the unknown. Although a good deal of it is about the supernatural, if some films contain a plot about serial killers, a disease/virus outbreak and surrealism, they may be termed "horror."

Typical horror films include ghosts, torture, gore, werewolves, ancient curses,, demons, vicious animals, vampires, cannibals, haunted houses, zombies and serial killers. stories of the supernatural are not necessarily always a horror movie as well.

Early horror movies are largely based on classic literature of the gothic/horror genre, such as Dracula, Frankenstein, The Phantom of the Opera, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. More recent horror films continue to exploit the monsters of literature.
