Parkview promotes women’s heart healthWe as women wear many hats. We take care of loved ones, manage a home, and work or volunteer. Take time to care for yourself, too. If you have heart disease, it’s vital to take action to protect your heart health. Heart disease is a lifelong condition — once you get it, you’ll always have it. In addition, the health of your blood vessels will steadily worsen unless you make changes in your daily habits. But there is much you can do to control heart disease, prevent a heart attack, and increase your chances for a long and vital life.
• Prevention and education
> Love Your Heart Expo, a community education event just for women, is held each February.
> The Her Heart Challenge is a 12-week wellness initiative that helps women find a personalized approach to decreasing their risk factors for heart disease. Within a group setting, participants learn self- care skills, overcome barriers to making lasting lifestyle change, connect to resources and health professionals. The Challenge is free to participants.
> The Cardiovascular Health & Wellness Clinic of Parkview Heart Institute provides coordinated care that includes identifying a person’s risk factors for heart disease, access to affordable lab tests and screening tests as well as a recommended plan for prevention.
• Convenient, affordable heart screenings
> Total vascular screenings and HeartSmart CT scans are available at Parkview-affiliated hospitals and other facilities throughout northeast Indiana.
To learn more about services available through the Parkview Heart Institute, call 260-266-2444 or visit parkview.com/heart.
If you are a woman who has survived a heart-related event or has heart disease, you are part of a growing sisterhood in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. To help you connect with other women like you, Parkview offers the Her Heart Support Network of Parkview Heart Institute.
