The weather has made it difficult to get to church the last two weekends. I am glad for those who were able to be with us, but also glad for those who exercised prudence and were safe. What is unfortunate is that many did not receive a bulletin insert inviting each one to consider a ministry within our pastoral region. It was included on the 13th when we celebrated the baptism of the Lord. The invitation suggests several different ministries because, as we hear in today’s second reading, we are given different gifts. “Now you are Christ's body, and individually parts of it. There are many parts, yet one body.” What will bolster the faith and charity of one, might not be the right service for another. But we all have a role to play. It is baptism that made us members of Christ’s Body. The insert was sent via e-mail and will be posted on the website for your consideration. This week we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. It takes a lot of dedication from teachers, parents, parishioners to be able to do what we do at St. Peter in Chains school, St. Joseph Consolidated school, and Badin High School. We are blessed to have Christ at the center of our education. I also want to recognize the work and dedication of our PREP teachers and parishioners who serve children in the public schools. Thank you to those who came Saturday to the family game night at St. Julie’s, gathered as one body. On February 6 at St. Peter’s there will be an uplifting evening of praise and adoration from 6:30-8pm. The pastoral region committee meets this Tuesday, 7pm at St. Joseph. I remind you that next weekend is the commitment weekend for the annual Catholic Ministries Appeal. What a joy to know, love, and serve the good God. In Christ,

Pastoral Regional Book Groups You are invited to the February 13th Regional Pastoral Book Club meeting at Lane Public Library meeting to discuss St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Franciscan friar who volunteered to die in place of a stranger in Auschwitz. Readers can select any of many writings about St. Maximilian.

A special guest for this discussion will be Paul Stanbury, director of Butler Philharmonic, who composed I MAXIMILIAN. The musical composition, written to honor the 75th anniversary of St. Maximilian’s martyrdom, conducted by Stanbury, premiered October 29, 2016 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Liberty Township in honor of the parish’s anniversary.

The Regional Pastoral Book Club meets the second Wednesday of each month. A book or person of interest is chosen, and a lively discussion follows. New mem-bers are welcome. For more information contact Vickie Ryan at 868-1306.

Night of Praise. Join us for upbeat music and a time to just be with our

Lord on February 6 from 6:30-8pm at St. Peter in Chains church. We are very excited to have this opportunity to take a break, enjoy contemporary Christian music - and sing along. You will also get a chance to hear about how God used a very special person to teach one of our St. Peter's parishion-ers more about what real love is. Our Music Director, Michael Collins, along with recording artists Jason and Cynthia Benge (who’s child is one of our students), will lead the contemporary music. There will be a period of adoration as well.

Next weekend is Commitment Weekend for the 2019 Catholic Ministries Appeal. Please

join with Catholics in every parish throughout our archdiocese who are being witnesses of Christ’s love to thousands right here in our commu-nities. These ministries depend on our help each year! You can mail your pledge card or bring it to Mass next weekend. For more infor-mation about the CMA, visit CatholicAppeal.info. Thank you!

From Fr. Rob and Fr. Richmond: Fr. Rob and Fr. Richmond want to spend time and share in the lives of the people of our pastoral region and we want to start with the parishioners of St. Peter in Chains parish. We are setting aside one night each week during February and March to visit your home. We envision being with you from 6:00-8:00pm. We would like to pray a decade of the Rosary or reflect on a passage of the Bible for 20 minutes and have time to get to know you. Fr. Richmond will be available to visit on Saturday evenings; Fr. Rob will be available for a Wednesday or Thursday evening. Schedule with Lisa Stricker, if you would like one of us to share the evening with you. Since we only have eight evenings each, you are welcome to invite a neighbor or friend or fellow parishioner to be with us as well.

Jesus sent out his apostles saying, “Whoever receives you receives me.”

The next Rosary Altar Society meeting will be held February 7th. Rosary will be said

at 6:15 with dinner and meeting to follow. All ladies of the parish are welcome.

Non perishable food items will be collected for St. Vincent de Paul.

Notre Dame Tabernacle Society - Do you have religious articles that you would like to share with others—Rosaries, prayer cards, books, medals, etc. Sometimes we find these items when a relative or friend passes away or we receive them in the mail with mission appeals. The Notre Dame Tabernacle Society accepts these and we send them along with vestments that we sew to Missionary priests in poor areas who request them to give to their congrega-tions. Of course we also accept monetary donations as we rely on our one raffle a year and donations. These can be made payable to NDTS.

Please contact NDTS by Email at: [email protected] or call Andrea Benson at 867-1497. Visit our website at NotreDameTabernacleSociety.org. Thank you for your support.
