Purpose
The purpose of the Green Run is to urge students, faculty and the surrounding Worcester community to participate in a 5k Road Race/Walk, to promote green awareness and to partake in sustainable behavior.
Goals• To raise money for the Regional
Environmental Council, Inc.• To encourage healthy lifestyles• To promote environmental
awareness and facilitate sustainable behavior
• To educate students, faculty and the Worcester community
• To enhance Clark University’s role in the green movement
• To create an annual, student-led event on campus

The Regional Environmental Council, Inc. is a grassroots, nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, healthy, sustainable communities in Worcester, MA.

Funding
1) Recieved initial funding from Student Council.
2) Rewarded subsequent funding from U-Reka’s Big Idea Contest.
3) Donated goods and raffle prizes recieved from Polar Beverages, Sweet Bakery, TuModa Salon & Spa.
2009 U-Reka’s Big IdeaThis year’s Big Idea Contest, hosted by the
Innovation & Entrepreneurship Department, yielded 22 entrants. Green Run was one of four finalists. With the majority of 297 student votes, Green Run WON and was rewarded $5,000 to spend on the event.
This funding allowed us to create the best possible event. We were able to spend more on advertising and provide t-shirts for all our runners.
