Greenwin Cares

Running from September 25 to October 6, Team Greenwin was

challenged by the Spirit Committee to "Pay It Forward" by passing on kind acts to one

another. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with

recipients of the kindness entering a draw to recognize

the person who paid it forward. In the end, five winners were

randomly selected to win great prizes. But, most importantly, the chain reaction of kindness

that was created was felt throughout the office. Even the

smallest gesture can make someone's day! Read all of the

Greenwin Cares cont'dIn the News

On September 30, lucky members of Team Greenwin attended the Women of Influence 20th Anniversary Legacy Panel. Featuring Dr. Roberta Bondar, Jeanne Beker and Annette Verschuren, these incredible women inspired everyone in attendance with their thoughts on confidence, self-esteem and following your dreams. As Dr. Bondar says, it's time to "blowtorch the Plexiglass ceiling!".

Staff and residents at our 65 & 68 Hillside Drive apartments

joined forces at the end of September to sell raffle tickets,

raising funds for the Toronto East General Hospital. Along with great prizes, residents were also treated

to snacks, refreshments and a perfectly sunny (and warm) day

to signal the start of fall. Congratulations to everyone

for raising funds for such a worthy cause!

To celebrate National Boss's Day on October 16, Kevin and Kris took their teams out to hit the links at Angus Glen Golf Club. While

the leaves were turning yellow and orange, the course was still green - a great way

to celebrate Team Greenwin!

Defining the old adage "We work hard, we play hard", check out the recently uploaded Halloween 2013 video to our YouTube page. Around here, we take Halloween VERY seriously. Stay tuned next month for the round-up of all the 2014 Halloween shenanigans!

This month, we shine the spotlight on Property Manager Josie Cariati. She recently submitted this very creative (and accurate!) summary of what it means to be a part of Team Greenwin:

regroup my thoughts and prioritize tasks by urgency so I can tackle them one at a time. This allows me to get back in control.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?If I could learn anything it would be to learn more about our universe. I feel that continuing to seek more knowledge of the universe can lead to more discoveries that can benefit humanity.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?If I could meet anyone it would be Patricia Summitt. She is a great leader who inspires me.

What did you like most about working at Greenwin? What I like most are the people I work beside. Also, Greenwin's culture is unmatched - it delivers on the fundamental values of transparency, respect, trust and communication, which is what makes Greenwin a first-class organization.

Kris’ Korner: As much as we are loathe to admit it, the snow will soon be falling. Safety is a top priority for all of us at Greenwin, so I thought I'd research a few tips to make the first snow of the year a little easier for all of us. Here's a few great ones I found from Parade:

❶ Use cooking spray to make shoveling easier. Turns out if you spray a little cooking spray on your shovel, the snow should glide right off of it. So says Bruce Lubin, author of Who Knew: 10,001 Easy Solutions to Everyday Problems. Lubin says this trick works on both metal and plastic shovels.

❷ Use a broom to clean off your car. No need for fancy snow removal tools when cleaning off any cars in your driveway. Just grab a kitchen broom. With the longer pole and soft bristle, a broom can take care of snow removal without damaging your car.

❸ Fill up your tires when you fill up at the gas station. According to the experts at Goodyear, low tire pressure can affect your tires’ ability to handle well in winter conditions.

❹ Cover your car with a tarp. Cover your car with a tarp before the snow starts falling, so clearing the car of snow afterwards is a snap—just pull off the tarp!

Stay safe on the roads and I promise we'll all get through this impending winter together.

Until next month!

Kris
