Getting to Know Our Staff Development Coordinator
Sometime in the past month, I came to realize that I did not do a very good job of introducing Brittney Hernandez to you all. While some of you knew her from when she worked here before, many of you were not here at that time. To make up for that, I asked Brittany to give me a little background history of who she is and what she has been doing since she left us a few years back. I think you’ll enjoy getting to know her a little bit better. Please read on… I am a mom of a 10 year old girl and a 3 year old French bull dog mix, named Pork Chop , I have 3 siblings who have all worked at The Granville. I am engaged hoping to get married in Nov 2020. Work History- I began working at The Granville in 2002 started in the kitchen as an aide, went on to work as a Receptionist, Activities Assistant, QMAP, and PRN Medication Coordinator, you name it I’ve done it! I decided to go back to school and I received my Practical Nursing License in 2015. At the time The Granville did not hire LPN’s so I had to place my resignation to gain my experience. I ended up working at Lakewood InnovAge in triage for about 2 ½ years. I was happy to be there because I was able to continue see-ing some of the familiar faces from The Granville. Then I was pre-sented with another opportunity at Kaiser Permanente so I decided to leave Innovage and went to work at KP in a plastic surgery clin-ic. I was there for about 2 years and was able to learn so much on the surgical aspect of nursing. I then heard about the job oppor-tunity that The Granville opened an LPN position for their Staff De-velopment Coordinator. That was a tough decision because I loved Kaiser, but I knew my heart was always here at The Granville. So I made the decision to leave Kaiser and return to The Granville. I am excited to be here to be able to bring all of my knowledge and ex-perience with me. Hobbies- decorating my home, coloring, crafts, spending time with my family
I asked Brittany some fun questions as well so read below… What’s your super hero strength? Super smell, so I’ve been told by many What would we find in your refrigerator/ food that you cannot live without? Pickles Dream vacation? I have two, Tokyo and Germany Something about you that most people do not know? I am terrified of moths Favorite holiday and why? Halloween because you get to be some-one else for one day The perfect day for you would include what? A sunny day at the beach with my family Any other fun bits of trivia about you? I’ve always wanted to be a history professor. We are all thrilled that Brittany decided to follow her heart and come back to The Granville. Please join me in welcoming her back!!

From the Activities Director:
I always consider November as the calm
between two storms. But even though
we don’t have a big extravaganza to
plan for during the month, here in the
Activities Dept. we are keeping busy
with planning some live entertainment,
outings to restaurants and shopping,
and making sure Thanksgiving is extra
special. We are also taking the time to
prepare for December’s many activities.
Keep watch for information coming for
some special Christmas Outings, and
shopping opportunities both in and out-
side of the Granville. We will also be en-
joying some performances from commu-
nity groups and creating Christmas
crafts to decorate your room or give as
gifts to family or friends.
The end of the year is always full of
ways to stay active, we hope to see you
taking part!
