Unconditional Love

In His great love God drew Salvation’s plan

• And through His boundless Grace, the Lord Jesus Christ, brought it down to man in this world of sin, suffering and injustice.

• With great mercy God Spanned the mighty gulf between heaven and hell at Calvary to restore man, all Nurses.

Relevance to Nurses

• Grace comes freely to us as the LORD Jesus Christ reveals God’s unconditional, abounding love and faithfulness to each one.

• The LORD Jesus Christ communicates God’s grace into a world saturated with man-made stress.

• Grace does not depend on what we have done but on what God has done, and will do for us.

Grace brings HopeWhen?

1.To God as being alive from the dead - having asked for and received God’s grace-,

2.And present your members-body and abilities as instruments of righteousness to God.

Brings power to resist and overcome theveneer of pride that hides the real person

“ While God resists the proud, He gives grace to the humble.

Nurses can cast their care upon Him, for He cares for each one.

And knowing that the God of Grace who has called him/her will perfect, establish and

strengthen each one.1 Peter 5:5-10

Applying Grace in Nursing

• “As each one receives a gift, minister to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God

1 Peter 4:10.

• Having a good conscience, that when those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.”

Assurance for NursesGrace breeds assurance > confidence that

The Nurse becomes a living Oasis in Nursing,

out of whose life spring rivulets of grace.

The LORD Jesus Christ says

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness”.

Garnering Resources in Nursing

• Each Nurse has the responsibility to garner his/her own resources and then to use these with wisdom and discretion throughout each day.

• Nurses demand all resources be made available during ‘duty hours’ but this has not reduced stress or brought even a modicum of peace into Nursing.

Effective Garnering by each Nurse

• “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God...

We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

The Power House for Nurses

Peace for NursesPeace with God precedes peace with man, it enables each Nurse to stand with a deep inner joy.

• Peace is not sticking plaster applied to cover the suppurating effects of sin and grief in life.

Let the Light Shine inWhen Nurses bring every detail of life under the

scrutiny of God’s grace, then

the Holiness that God gives each one will be evident in his/her professional practice

by unsullied walking- with feet shod with the Gospel

of Peace,

unsullied talking- with the tongue that speaks with love, words of wisdom

unsullied thinking- with the mind at peace, Nurses are able to order and execute priorities with true justice, grace and mercy.

The Catch to Grace• Grace has to be received. • Grace cannot be taught.• Grace cannot be brought.• Only open empty hands can receive

grace.• ‘God gives where He finds empty hands’.• The gift of Grace has to be received and

full hands cannot receive a gift.• ‘The doorway to grace,’ C.S. Lewis said ‘is

the act of repentance.’

Relevance of Repentance to Nurses and Nursing

• If a flaw is not exposed by light it can not be rectified, overcome or healed.

• Jesus dealt with two categories of sinners:

1. Those who admit to sin2. Those who deny sin

• The measure of a Nurse’s awareness of God is evident in his/her sense of sin in Nursing.

Is Grace abused by Nurses in Nursing?

• Yes, when Nurses do not know that ‘sin, is an unrelenting slave master and a reality’, preferring the more passive term addiction with its reactive notion of projected blame.

• Yes, unintentionally when Nurses do not grow and thrive in the

Presence and Power of God’s Love.

Relevance of Legalism to Nurses and Nursing

The Gospel of Jesus Christ differentiates

1.Trivialities that reveal the spirit of legalism

2.More weighty matters of justice and mercy

Hypocrisy is an elaborate scam to avoid grace

Honesty > Repentance > receiving grace.

Grace in Nursing

The Lodestar of Nurses

• The Lodestar of Nurses is God Himself.

• It is the work that God does through us in Nursing that counts, not what we do for Him.

• The LORD Jesus Christ knows each Nurse’s relationship of worth to our Heavenly Father and He will bring many to grace and glory through our lives.

Nursing by Grace becomes a Masterpiece

Each Nurse is a Masterpiece of God’s Creation.

Is saved by God’s gift of grace through faith, not of oneself or of works, so no

one can boast.

Is created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before-hand that we should walk in them.”
