Captains Corner:

In this edition we have a report from the Threadgold captains:

Hi we’re Claire R and Zoe V and we are the Threadgold Cap-tains. We would like to congratulate everyone in Threadgold who partici-pated in cross country. It was a very hard course and we were impressed by everyone’s resilience and persistence in com-pleting the course.

We were very proud that Threadgold came 2

nd in

the event and hope that next time we might come first . If not we will still be proud of all your efforts, as it is more important to participate to the best of your abilities. Go Thread-gold!!!

A word from our School Captains Will & Abbie:

Hi, it’s Abbie and Will again. It has been such an amazing term so far. As you all know, we had AN-ZAC Day and as school captains, we were given the opportunity to read a poem in front of lots of people at the Dawn Ser-vice. It was very cold and it started very early. Eve-ryone just stood there and listened really well. It was very nice to see lots of people from here rep-resenting our school.

Cross Country

On the 5th of April in Term 1 we had cross country.

On the day the Preps ran 600 metres and the Grade 1 people ran 600 metres as well.

The 9-10 year old age group students ran 2k followed by ages 11-13 running 3ks. We had lots of fun! In the houses Byrne won.

On the 24th of May we had the district cross country and 45 people qualified with an amazing 35 who participated. See page 4 to find out who is going on to the Division event.

We wish them luck. Thank you for participating in cross country this year. We hope you had fun.

ART EXTENSION: Milly and Blake interviewed Bella, Abbie, Ciara, Chilli, Jaxon and Co-dy about their participation in Art Extension throughout Term 2. Do you enjoy Art Extension? “We love it”…...everyone said they enjoy it very much. What are you making and how long have you been working on it? Lino Cuts since Week 2 of Term 2. We had to carve pictures, lines and shapes into a cut of lino. We have now used them to make prints. What type of things do you write in your art extension diary? Things you have done in the previous week and some ways that we could make the carvings more interesting. What materials have you been using? Ink, wooden spoon, paper spatula, ice-cream scooper, lino, coloured paper and ink roller. Here is a photo of some of the lino prints that the Art Extension group created: INTERSCHOOL SPORTS: An interview with Jackson B by Amelia. Amelia wanted to find out about Jackson’s experiences in the inter school sports competition: A: What sport did you play? J: T Ball A: Did you enjoy T Ball? J: Yes—I really liked it. A: How many games have you won? J: Five out of five. A: Have you made any friends that you didn’t know previously? J: No but it is fun playing with your class mates and against different schools. A: Do you enjoy travelling to different schools? J:Yes A: Do you have any advice for someone who would like to play T Ball? J: Keep your eye on the ball. Focus and be confident. I would rec-ommend everyone wear helmets to protect their heads because the ball is quite hard and could really damage your skull.

A word from our Recycling team:

When we are emptying the bins

after lunch we often find the

wrong types of rubbish in each

one. It is not fun for the Grade 5

recycling monitors to have to sort

through rubbish when they are

doing their jobs. If you are not

sure the following information

tells you what goes in each bin.

Please follow these simple steps

so that our school can be more

sustainable and environmentally

friendly:

COMPOST BINS:

In our compost bins you can put

food scraps such as

apple cores, banana

peels and left over food.

This is the black bin

with the green lid.

RECYCLING BINS:

In our recycling bins you can put

scrap paper and cardboard. This is

the black bin with the yellow lid or

the yellow boxes.

RUBBISH BINS:

All the rest of the rubbish goes in

our normal bins. These are the

black bins.

The environment team are pictured above.
