A HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!A HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!A HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!A HUGE THANK YOU!!!!! Our Whatcoat Family wants to extend much appreciation and thanks for the work that Stephen Burnett Stephen Burnett Stephen Burnett Stephen Burnett put into keep-ing our facilities sparkling and clean for the past 5 years! We are very sad that he had to resign from his posi-tion as custodian here at Whatcoat due some physical and personal situations in February. Stephen came to his work here at Whatcoat with an enthusiastic attitude…One of his first days here was St. Patrick’s Day in 2011 and he dressed the part. His ministry shined through his work ethic. He made sure that our areas were always ready and clean for us. He really enjoyed being outside to take care of our grounds, too. He will be missed as our custodian, BUT not as a member of our Whatcoat Family. When you see Ste-phen around from now on he will be a family member, not a staff member! Be sure to give him a hug and thanks for his work well done!

We are also thankful that Will Leister Will Leister Will Leister Will Leister has been able to pitch in over the months that Stephen was out recuperating and now until a full-time custodian is hired. Will has been a “super-substitute! It is with more sadness that we have to accept the resignation of our organist, Jane HickmanJane HickmanJane HickmanJane Hickman. Jane has been playing the organ here since fall of 2008. Her talents along with her great sense of humor will be missed by all who know her. We wish Jane all the best in her future. At the present time new job descriptions are being drafted and we are in the process of fill-ing the position of Whatcoat Church/Simpson Center Custodian. Please keep our church staff in your prayers. -The Staff-Pastor Relations Team (S.P.R.T.)

Whatcoat Christian Preschool

The month of February was filled with reading and reading fun! Teachers posted a book on their bulletin boards each week after reading to the students. The children then made a craft or creative art project that was inspired by the book and displayed it on the board too. The children also have a special visitor that comes to the preschool each month so the children can read books to him or walk him around the classroom. The visitor is a therapy dog and Ms. Edy, the owner. She helps to encourage language from the children by telling them a bit about the dog and then letting them read stories to the dog. The children have really taken a liking to the different dogs that Ms. Edy has brought to visit. We still found time to squeeze in our Valentine’s parties. The children exchange valentines and some stamped valentine bags, while others play heart match up games. We are currently registering for the 2016-17 school year. Please let your friends and family know that we are here and waiting to serve their child or grandchild! We are “teaching hearts and using minds.” We find that ‘word of mouth’ has been a vital connection for our program. Thank you for the good words and constant prayers from the church congregation. Knowing you lift us up each and every day keeps us strong and mindful of our mission.—Lee Anne Jackson

"Small Things Done With Great Love are Changing The World"

Servant Evangelism is a way to show God's love through acts of kindness and generosity

with "No strings aached." We Need YOU to help spread the Love of Christ. The first way

that we will be doing this is through pu(ng together goody baskets for the Camden police

and Fire departments, nursing home and veterans home. If you would be interested in help-

ing further with this please contact Julie Lewicki at [email protected] or 535-2063. We

will also have informa7on in future bulle7ns about items needed.

On 3/6, you will find 2 Outreach Connect cards in your bulle7n with a paper clip aached to

them with a message that " God loves you". We are invi7ng you to aach a dollar to the

card and leave it in a public place ( grocery store, offices, library, restaurants, banks etc). You

can also directly hand the card to someone and perhaps this will spark a conversa7on. The

most Important piece of this is that you PRAY over this card for the person who may pick it

up.

Let's go out and let others know how much God loves them !! We will be presen7ng more

opportuni7es in the future for direct kindness outreaches to our local community and pray

that you will join us.

What will Whatcoat look like in the future? In three years?

The “Visioning Task Force” began meeting with 22 people in the Simpson Center on January 3, 2016. They have had four meetings to establish our

“core values” and brainstorm what we believe our mission and vision to be. Come and “pop” any questions that you might have about this group and what they have been doing. Or share your thoughts with them on Sunday after the 10:00 Worship Service.

Nothing But Nets Did you know that 3,000 KIDS die a DAY in Africa because they don't have a NET on

their bed? You have the power to save a family though the “Nothing But Nets”

campaign that we will be focusing on for the month of March. “Nothing But Nets” is a

campaign to prevent malaria through the purchase and distribution of long-lasting,

insecticide-treated mosquito nets.

How can you help prevent malaria?

$10 will buy a bed net that can keep a family safe from malaria for up to five years. You

may spend $10 on lunch or a movie ticket, but will it save a life? Probably not. YOU can

make a difference and save a life by your donation of any amount. Donations are being

collected for the entire month of March.

Please place your donations in the basketballs and then put them in the net in the

narthex.

MALARIA KILLS. BUY A NET. SAVE A LIFE!

“Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, ‘Go, I

wish you well; Keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about his physical needs, what

good is it? - James 2:15-16

" He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it

means to know me?" declares The Lord. Jeremiah 22:16

We are blessed by our good health and to be free from Malaria. 1,000,000 DIE a year in

Africa from Malaria and 75% of them are children. Together we can make a difference!

THE GOOD NEWS

Please share any “Good News “ that you have. Articles and/or pictures must be submitted to the office by March 23rd to be included in the April newsletter.
