Caution Note
The new Golf
The 2013 Golf is the first vehicle of the Volkswagen brand, based on
the new concept of ?? modular transverse engine platform ?? (MQB).
Within the MQB concept, many organs, functional units and systems
have been completely redesigned.
The seventh generation Golf is therefore a veritable new edition, which
features many innovations. The Golf 2013 sets new standards in
comfort, quality and safety, but also from the perspective of ?? using
systems to conduct proposed in its segment.
Due to the large number of new techniques, this Self-Study Programme
merely gives an overview of the design and operation of the new Golf.
Within the chapters, you will find references to the self-study
programs contain more detailed information on the design and
architecture ?? vehicle components.

Group. In 2012, this concept is introduced for Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and SKODA under the leadership of Volkswagen. Volkswagen, the proposed
models based on the MQB are the Polo, Beetle, Scirocco, Jetta, Tiguan, Touran, Sharan, Passat, the CC and, first, the Golf 2013.
Vehicle architecture
The modularity of the architecture ?? the vehicle forms part of the MQB
concept. This architecture is divided into five main sections. The central
coast is that between the pedal and the wheel center.
This rating is fixed on all vehicles and is based on the systematic
installation of the engine perpendicular to the direction of travel. The
other dimensions that define a concept car, as ?? wheelbase, track,
wheel size and position of the seats, are defined within the Group and
may vary.

Synergies limited to one segment Synergies may concern several segments. The synergies are fully multi- segments.
From the early 1990s, different models were built
on a common platform.
With this strategy, the vehicle was divided into
a superstructure and a plat- form.
The components of ?? the same platform are
virtually identical to ?? a technical perspective.
?? In the year 2000, this strategy has been
enhanced by a modular design. Modules to core
technical functions and identical designs were
used on different vehicle models.
Since 2007, the ?? use of modules has been
extended to the entire vehicle ?? to become
crossover. From
2012 modules are used in ?? the Group and
on all modular platforms.

multi standardization
The multi standardization has the following advantages:
?? Standardization makes multi Volkswagen faster production, simpler, cheaper and
more flexible. It simplifies the development, creates synergies that go beyond the brands and ranges. ?? The modular platform strategy can
significantly reduce the number of variants and
complexity of the components.
?? It enables standardized production process, with an assembly ?? s order of the body, an order
Installation and mounting unique concepts.
?? Models of different brands, but all based on the MQB architecture ??, can be assembled
simultaneously on the same production line.

to the Golf, the Golf Plus models, Touran and Tiguan. In 2011, c ?? ??
is a total of about 805,000 vehicles left the production halls. In total, the
number of vehicles produced at the Wolfsburg site ?? s amounted to 40
million.

The Volkswagen site Zwickau is a Saxon automobile factory that was
built in 1990 in the current ?? Mosel district of Zwickau, which is jointly

The pro- active protection system for
occupants
For the first time in this segment, the Golf is equipped with the optional
proactive occupant protection system.
This system is activated when the ?? one of the following criteria is met: ??
emergency braking d ??
(Very fast actuation of the brake pedal) ?? Braking in dangerous
situations
(Sharp increase in the pressure on the brake pedal during braking
??) ?? unstable states of the vehicle, eg. understeer or
pronounced oversteer the vehicle
?? When an accident-prone situation is detected, the occupants and
the vehicle are prepared for the possibility ?? d ?? an accident. The
retraction of seat belts by an electric motor stops the driver and front
passenger in the seat to maximize the protection offered by the
systems of air bags and seat belts.
In the event of understeer or oversteer pronounced the vehicle, the
panoramic sliding roof and the side windows are closed until ?? to ??
that they are more than slightly open.
When the driver regained control of the vehicle and that he has again a
stable dynamic behavior, safety belts are relaxed.

Design / operating principle
The measurement of ?? air ?? humidity and temperature of the
windshield is provided by a capacitive sensor thin film. Transmitter
operation is comparable to that ?? a plate capacitor; the measure of the
ability to determine the degree of humidity ?? ?? air.
Using the signal
The transmitter determines:
- The temperature on the inner face of the windshield
- The relative humidity inside ??
The signals are sent to the computer board network and transmitted to
the computer via the Climatronic Comfort CAN data bus. Climatronic
computer uses these signals to calculate the internal dew point as well
as ?? deviation from the dew point.
To reduce the fogging of the windshield, the Climatronic ensures
optimum conditions in ?? cabin and takes the following actions:
- Activation / deactivation of the compressor
- Opening / closing the flap dégivragedésembuage
- Controlling the air flow rate d ?? by changing the fan speed,
- Changing the temperature of the evaporator ??
- ?? s air recirculation flap in position ?? recycling air / fresh air
Consequences in case of failure
?? In the absence of a signal of this sensor, the computer can not
calculate from when l ?? moisture condenses on the ice. The
automatic function dégivragedésembuage n ?? is ensured.

Selecting the driving profile
Selecting the driving profile, optional, allows the driver ?? perform many
and varied settings in the vehicle according to his wishes. The system
offers a choice of the following driving profiles: ?? Comfort
(In combination with adaptive suspension) ?? Normal (default
setting) ?? Eco ?? Sport ??
Individual
L ?? s ?? activation system performs in ?? using the MODE button on
the center console, and the driving profile is selected by means of ??
the ?? touch screen control units and ?? display. Communication with
the driver is ensured by the ?? ?? display controller and display ??
which the vehicle is equipped.
Depending on the selected profile and the ?? vehicle equipment, the
device acts on different systems.

Two channels Service
?? Up to now, only the maturities of ?? maintenance associated with oil
?? d drain could be reported to the customer by means ?? s ??
maintenance indicator. All other deadlines of ?? maintenance were
listed on the sticker ?? ?? maintenance. The Golf 2013 is equipped with
?? a second service channel so that the maturities of ?? maintenance
that are not related to an oil drain ?? d can also be displayed.
This new channel allows ?? s ensure deadlines are clearly marked.
The risk that a maintenance ?? d ?? deadline will not be honored on
time decreases, because it recalled the customer directly via the
handset display ?? d ?? instruments.
N ?? It is necessary to fill the sticker ?? ?? maintenance.
