Bold Women's Day - Sunday, February 26, 2017
“Be bold, take risks on account of the Gospel, but believe more boldly still in Jesus,” said Martin Luther. Women of the ELCA celebrate on Bold Women's Day the women who take these three steps, living out the WELCA mission. Who are the bold women that inspire you and your faith -- living or dead, ordinary or extraordinary, local or far away, known of or known personally? Honor and celebrate the bold women in your congregation and community and life today! Let them know how you feel and how they've made a difference in your life.

Come to participate in one or more of 3 service projects: 1. Create valentines for patients at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center as part of the National Salute to Veteran Patients during the week of February 14. You can express your creative spirit and gratitude using art materials supplied by us. We will deliver your valentines by 2-10-17. 2. Shop for and assemble a Cleaning Supplies Basket for a Refugee Family in order to learn the items, cost and process of this project for future Service Events. This basket will be given to a refugee family resettled by LSS. Items needed for the kit (all newly purchased per , or like new): Highest priority — Broom/dust pan; bucket; sponges (2-4); dishes scrub brush (1); Multipurpose cleaner (1 bottle); dish soap (1 large bottle); laundry soap (1 large bottle); dish towel and rag; toilet brush and plunger. Also helpful — Garbage can and garbage bags; toilet paper; small wastebaskets; bar soap - for hands; vacuum (used would be fine); gift cards for household items. Bring purchased items to the church office.
3. Assemble twin bed-sized fleece blankets for youth aged 6 to 13 affected by floods and other national disasters who attend CAMP NOAH, a national program of LSS-MN. If you know you can come, register by calling Ann Niedringhaus at 651-895-9574 or e-mailing her at [email protected]. This will allow planners to have sufficient supplies. If you are not sure you can come, just drop in on February 6th.
