Where did people sit?Spectators sat in the gallery around the edge

If they were very wealthy they may have even sat on the stage!Poor people stood in front of the stage. These people were called groundlings.

The PlaysThere was no sceneryYoung boys played the womens parts (girls were NOT allowed to become actors!)Performances took place from 2 o clock in the afternoon until the evening.A flag was raised to show that a play was being performed
