ABOUT THE EVENTThe University of Queensland’s Centre for Research in Geriatric Medicine, in conjunction with the interRAI international research collaborative and Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners is pleased to announce plans for the 2017 Global Acute Care Excellence Forum.

The Forum will be conducted on February 20 and 21 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC).

The forum is designed to enable delegates to appreciate the challenges associated with providing hospital care to frail and vulnerable patients across the hospital continuum – from the emergency department to post-acute care, and to learn of successful local and international strategies that address these issues.

A highlight of the forum will be the international launch of the world’s first comprehensive, whole of episode assessment system for frail and vulnerable patients. This system, developed by the interRAI research collaborative over the past 10 years, incorporates clinical observations, scales, diagnostic and risk assessment tools and quality indicators. Sub-systems are designed for the emergency department, acute care, and post-acute care. There are systems designed to meet the assessment requirements of all adult patients, as well as in depth systems that address the requirements of special needs groups (such as frail older patients and patients with mental health issues).

The “new” interRAI Acute Care sub-system is a compact, efficient general assessment system that aims to dramatically reduce the documentation burden for nursing staff, while at the same time increasing the integrity of the assessment process.

The forum is privileged to be supported by a large number of invited international and local experts. We anticipate at least 15 international presentations by world authorities in hospital care of frail and vulnerable adults. The program is configured to ensure that the presentations address the perspectives of nurses, medical and allied health professionals as well as health administrators.

• Nurses• Doctors• Allied health professionals• Administrators• Academics• Government representatives• Policy advisers• Audio-visual technicians• Managers• Educators• Media personnel

SPONSOR BENEFITSSponsorship provides an upper-edge on competitors who are not involved in the conference to “sell” your organisation’s advantages over its competitors in a climate of enthusiasm. We are particularly interested to engage sponsors who have products that support the assessment and care of frail and vulnerable patients in hospital. This might include software vendors, suppliers of personal aids and appliances, technical equipment and pharmaceutical companies.

Benefits of sponsoring include:

• Attendance will provide an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your products to a receptive audience, facilitating networking and allowing participants to update their knowledge and understanding of your products and services.

• The conference will be a unique opportunity to market your products to a wide range of potential customers through close interaction with a key target market.

• Your organisation will be openly and prominently demonstrating its continued commitment to and active support to this important patient population.

• Attendance will provide opportunities to involve representatives from your organisation both in the conference program and through attendance at the event.

• Sponsorship entitlements are designed to have impact before, during and after the event.
