THE GARDEN DANCER: COURTNEY & MARK (SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON 4)
A contemporary jazz rouHne brought in a dance compeHHon, So You Think You Can Dance. Choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, this rouHne tells about a baSle between two lovers – a baSle of love and hate – with
a sense of vintage French burlesque. The rouHne is raw, dark, and aggressive as the dancer once said.

The rouHne was chosen because of its unique movements, giving some complexity on finding the space in-‐between the dancers. The way the dance telling the story gives the rouHne a whole of different kind of flow – running away from each other, then approaching each other to fight, jumping up, crawling down. The whole sequence had interests us to explore and study the space in-‐between made in the dance and to make a form from it.
