4 broad strategies of future BPPTo collaborate on and jointly advance cross border programmatic issuesTo work together to mobilize more and more effective resources to address regional issuesTo strengthen the institutional capacity of member organizationsTo provide leadership and influence public policy
Strategy 1To collaborate on and jointly advance cross border programmatic issues of common concern
Compile data, information and best practices on border issues
Exchange information and learn together Identify and define priority issues Create and implement action plans in priority
areas
Strategy 2To work together to mobilize more and more effective philanthropic resources to address border issues
Jointly approach new and existing funders (corporate and others) for special opportunity grantsIncrease grants to border communities( both grants from CFs to border communities, as well as grants from outside the region)Increase visibility through joint marketing, networking efforts
Strategy 3Strengthen the Institutional Capacity of Border Community Foundations
Training and technical assistance to strengthen BCF skills
Identify opportunities to reduce back office costs of members through combined purchasing power, sharing of resources, etc.
Strategy 4Provide leadership and influence public policy at the local, regional and transnational levels on issues that affect the border and border foundations
Executive Committee wants the input of BPP members as to whether the majority of members support this strategy, and if so, what would be the priority activities under it.
Future Structure
2 recommendations so far:
Membership open to current partners, and in the future consider other grantmaking institutions, and possibly other types of members
Phase III BPP should be incubated at host foundation/s where back office costs can be covered
