Why is backup and recovery so important?A PC is a complicated device, overflowing with all kinds ofimportant information. Everything from emails, bankstatements and family photos, to music collections, videosand other stuff that one really couldn’t do without resideson it.

Unfortunately sometime some of this information goesmissing. Perhaps because of a virus or something equallynasty attached to a Web download. Or even fromsomething simple like spilling some coffee over yourmachine. Worse still, think of where you’d be if your PC’shard disk, where all those documents and files are kept,were to fail altogether.

Fortunately there is an answer and it is ‘backup.’ There aremany backup and recovery solutions available on themarket, however not all of them are fully comprehensive.

What are consumer attitudes like when it comes to backing up?Consumer attitudes are varied when it comes to backing uptheir computers which is why Acronis recently conducted asurvey of over one hundred UK consumers which revealedsome very interesting findings. The survey found thatnearly 45% of those questioned never make backups oftheir home laptops or computers, indicating that there is astrong need for education around the area of backup anddisaster recovery for UK consumers. Nearly half of thosesurveyed also admitted that ‘they know they should makebackups, but don’t’.

Xbox, and instantly became the fastest-selling title on

the platform. It achieved a Metacritic average of 85%,

and sold over two million copies.

Dual sport 'super athlete' Shaun White

collaborates with Ubisoft this month on a fantastic,

innovative skateboarding title that promises to

crank up extreme sports gaming to an exciting

new level.

Said to be "the most ambitious instalment yet",

Shaun White Skateboarding will, Ubisoft says,

"make skate dreams possible" by bringing the

adrenaline rush of real skateboarding right to your

living rooms.

Players will transform a dull, lifeless urban space

into their own "extraordinary skating utopia." And

as they skate, "colour, life and brilliance" will be

added to the city, with players able to extend

handrails into exciting grinds that stretch up to

dizzying heights.

Opportunities to transform the city present

themselves everywhere, with players able to

empty fountains to create bowls, carve alleys

into epic quarter and half pipes, and morph

streets into ramps. As new areas of the city are

uncovered, the opportunities for more ambitious

routes and skate lines present themselves,

and this creativity is subsequently rewarded

not only with points, but more gear and new

skating opportunities.

Choice is paramount in Shaun White

Skateboarding, with players given the option of

skating any way they choose, and the freedom to

create, customise and share their skating world

with their online buddies. According to Ubi,

"Shaun White Skateboarding empowers skaters to

push the limits of what's possible."

As you'd expect from a skateboarding title, tricks

are an all-important part of the package, and this

doesn't disappoint. Mr White himself has "hand-

picked" more than 80 skate tricks, including one

called the Armadillo - created by Shaun. As

players go through the game pulling off scores of

authentic moves, they'll really get to experience

the visceral thrill of grabbing big air, eating it and

sticking a landing!

In addition, several different mission types and

challenges will feature throughout each of the

massive districts, including race, collect, narrative

missions and more.

Online play is also a key part of the Shaun White

Skateboarding experience, with players able to

jump online and challenge their mates in co-

operative or competitive modes. Better still,

split-screen multiplayer support lets players duke it

out on the sofa, perhaps challenging rivals on

maps they've created themselves. With online

leaderboards tracking every part of the game, the

opportunity for bragging rights are enormous.
