UNIQUE 40MM FIRE CLAY COREFor improved heat storage, a unique feature of the Fischer heating system is the 40mm chamotte fire clay core that is installed in the front panel of the radiator.

It enables the prolonged storage of heat to be radiated into the room because of our built-in convecting chamber.

This means heat is not wasted on the back wall, enabling each kW of heat to be delivered into the room efficiently. The special fire clay core is manufactured to retain heat for longer.

FIREPROOF CLAY COREChamotte is a fireproof clay core, mixed with up to 45% aluminium oxide, thereby heating the clay core quickly.

The clay core can be fired up to temperatures of 1500°C, making it a highly heat resistant ceramic clay core.

The secret of efficient heating is to distribute each kW of heat into the room quickly and without loss. The better the distribution, the more efficient the radiator will be.

EFFICIENCY OF DESIGN THE SECRET OF EFFICIENT HEATING

DYNAMIC FISCHER RADIATORS

Fischer’s Clay Core is perforated to enhance convection and frontloaded to ensure all the heat transfers in the room.Any heat that escapes towards the back wall is used to warm the air up.Fischer radiators are designed with a convection chamber – they are the only radiators on the market that can produce up to 30°C difference between the front and back panel.

Bottom vents ensure any cool air gets sucked in.

OTHER RADIATORSHave no convection chamber, so the heat travels in both directions (50/50). As a consequence both panels are approximately at the same temperature and a large amount of heat is lost to the back wall.This not only applies to 2cm German engineered heaters, but also to central heating radiators, radiating panels, oil filled radiators and, of course, night storage heaters.

COMPARED WITH GAS AND OILGas fires are the most inefficient form of heating. To get 1kW of heat from a typical fire you need to burn 2.5 to 3kW of gas. An average gas price of 3.5p equates to 10p per kWh, with huge waste through chimneys or flue.

Gas/oil central heating with boilers and pipes is not efficient especially if you consider the average boiler is only 85% efficient.

There is a possibility of heat loss from the pipes before the water actually gets to the radiator. How efficient is the system when the water reaches the last radiator? A Fischer system would cost less than a gas system throughout its entire life span in terms of installation and maintenance.

COMPARED WITH EXISTING NIGHT STORAGE ECONOMY 7Night storage heats from 12 midnight to 7am in the morning, wasting most of the heat by 10am. They will only maintain a background temperature throughout the day.

Fischer radiators heat with an economy temperature during the night, and subsequently trickle charge to the storage element. This ensures the radiator maintains a comfortable temperature during the day or evenings when you need it.

THE REDUCTION OF kW COMPARED TO NIGHT STORAGE HEATERSFor example, if a lounge is heated using a 3.5kW night storage heater; in the same room, dependant on the heat loss calculation, a Fischer radiator would only use 1.5 kW. Every kW of heat is delivered into the room more efficiently with our system.

Using a trickle charge system to frequently top up the storage we do not need a high kW load like night storage heaters, therefore we can use a normal 13 amp socket.

COSTING COMPARISON EXAMPLE BASED ON AVERAGE ENERGY PRICE3.5kW over 1 hour @ Economy 7 @ 8 pence = 28 pence6 1.5kW over 1 hour @ normal rate @ 15 pence = 22 pence6.

Fischer radiators can also use Economy 7, so the unit price could reduce to 12 pence, costing 18 pence per hour.

Test InformationThe test was requested by Fischer Future Heat and was conducted in July 2013. The wireless receiver was replaced with an updated version on the radiator body by a representative of Fischer Future Heat before the tests were conducted. The objective of the test was to determine the total heat input over a 24 hour period into the Fischer dynamic elektrostore radiator, while measuring the room temperature at various heights in the centre of the room, while also providing cooling loads to simulate the outside temperature.

Maintaining an indoor room temperature at 21˚C for 16 hours and a night time temperature of 16˚C for 8 hours. Minimum outside temperature of -1˚C and a maximum outside temperature of 10˚C. The radiator tested had a wireless receiver on the side at low level and a thermostat transmitter/sensor on the opposite wall. It consisted of an electrical radiator within a fireclay structure, encased in a steel fluted (finned) case.
