TINTINA GUN CLUB BOX 67, FARO YUKON Y0B 1K0
Tintina Gun Club Rifle Range News Update
Our club held our annual meeting the evening of January 22, 2016 in the Rec Center Youth Lounge. Over
20 people attended and many new members have signed up. As this was our business meeting we had the
usual meeting requirements to deal with including reports from the executive and an election of officers to
serve for the upcoming year.
In 2015 our club received a Community Development Grant for $55,000 to improve our club house and
range, including a new shooting station complete with shooting tables that is out of the weather. Over
$6,000 worth of volunteer labour and equipment were contributed to the project. We reached substantial
completion by October 6th however there are still a few things to finish by the members.
We had good discussions on the future of our club and range and everyone there left the meeting
encouraged that we would have a functioning, certified shooting facility by spring. Much discussion focused
on rimfire and centerfire rifle, handgun, and shotgun events.
Our club is planning an open house at the range, once the range is certified. Other events we will hold
include the ever popular pellet gun turkey shoots and perhaps another summer dance event.
Just a reminder that the Tintina Gun Club and shooting range is a private club expressly for the use and
enjoyment of our members. You need to be either a member or with a member as their guest to use these
facilities.
Memberships are available through Ray Henderson, 994-2103 or Jack Bowers, 994-2262.
Membership dues are $35/individual member/year or $50/family/year.

Miss Town of Faro Update
Well Rendezvous has come and gone…….it seemed like it was a long ways off then it was over. It was very busy.
I knew that the Queen Candidates did a lot of work, but I must say I didn’t appreciate how much work they did do.
As you may or may not know by now, I finished second, I am First Princess……so I guess that makes me Cpl.
PRINCESS!!!!! I would like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement. I should have the Miss Town
of Faro web Site updated by the end of the week. There just weren’t enough hours in the day during the final
week.
I was top ticket seller with 611 books. Thanks for making that happen. I could not have made that happen without
all of you.
It was a good group of candidates this year and I would not have wanted to be a Judge. Unfortunately only one of
us could be Queen and Brooke, Miss G and P Steak House, was chosen. She will do an excellent job. She was
also crowned Miss. Congeniality! (and she was who I voted for so I am glad she got that)
The Faro float won it’s category, Best Community Representation. This is for all the floats not in the business or
grad challenge. So good job!!!! The Mayor of Whitehorse, Mayor CURTIS, was impressed stating that Faro had
put Whitehorse to shame by entering a float. I have a feeling that there will be a Whitehorse float next year.
Perhaps as the winner this year our Mayor can challenge all the other Mayors/Communities next year………you
never know. Mayor Curtis will be posting a photo of our float on the City of Whitehorse web site. There will be
some on the Town of Faro web site soon.
FARO YOUTH HOCKEY NEWS
March is our last month on the ice. The last hockey practice will be Monday March 21st and there will be practices
running over spring break as well. The last session for Learn-to-Skate is Wednesday March 9th. Thanks for another
great season on the ice and we hope everyone had a good time!
We guess by now everyone has heard the big news for the Mad Sled Dog hockey players! The entire team of 22
kids have been invited to watch a Vancouver Canucks game on Easter Weekend. There has been a lot of support
from businesses both here and in Whitehorse and also from so many residents here in town! That financial
support is allowing all of the 22 kids to attend for no cost. But of course, this is a very expensive trip with three
nights in hotels, airfare, meals, etc. So we will be doing a couple of FUNDRAISERS before we leave on our
adventure!
BOTTLE DRIVE
March 7th we will be running a bottle drive starting at 3:30pm. Leave your empties out for us in bags or boxes or
have them at the door. If you want an early pick up, call Matt on Sunday March 6th at 994-3114 and he will come
and get them. If your house is missed and you want to still donate cans and bottles, just call Matt after that event
and we will arrange pick up.
PASTA SUPPER
On Saturday March 19th, we will be running a pasta supper at the rec centre starting at 5pm following Ice Worm
Squirm festivities. Prices are $8 a plate or $20 a family for either spaghetti (pick your own homemade sauce) or
lasagna (vegetarian options available), caesar salad, and homemade buns. This includes a drink as well. There will
be a dessert table with items available for $1 each such as cookies and squares, for $2 you can get an ice cream
sundae, and for $3 you can get special homemade cream puff ice cream sundae!
During the supper fundraiser, we will be running a cake walk and the entry fee each round is $1 per person. We
will also be having a draw for a few Mad Sled Dog hoodies; the fee to enter the draw is $2.
Starting at 6:30 is the best part of the evening!! For $5, you can THROW A WHIPPING CREAM PIE at one of our
volunteers/victims! Rumour has it that a nurse, a teacher, an RCMP member and a teenager are signed up so far.
And for $1 you can win the chance to throw the SUPER PIE at your favorite victim up there! Watch for posters with
more details about this event.
Thank you to everyone who has so generously contributed funds so far towards this trip. The support has been
overwhelming and makes us all proud to be part of this incredible little community!
Contact Kara at 994-3114 if you would like more information about any of these events!
