    We’ll leave for the Fontmorigny Abbey, a privatelyowned French historical monument that has now become one of the main cultural sites in the Loire Val d’Aubois. Afterwards, we’ll continue on to Apremontsur-Allier, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, and its floral gardens. (closed in October).

    Our first stop after leaving the ship will be the Espace Bernadette Soubirous, the final resting place of the simple country girl from Lourdes who claimed to have seen the Virgin 18 times. We’ll then discover the façade of Ducal Palace, considered the first of the Loire’s Châteaux. We’ll continue on to the Nevers Cathedral and visit the Nevers Blue Gold pottery district before finishing up with a tasting of local products.

    LA CHARITÉ-SUR-LOIRELENGTH: 3.75 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & TASTING)

    We’ll leave for La Charité-sur-Loire and begin our visit with the Clunisian Priory of La Charité-sur-Loire, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Way of St. James. We’ll then head to an authentic farm where you’ll be able to taste local products.

    NIGHTTIME STROLL THROUGH NEVERS with lanterns

    At nightfall, we’ll leave on a romantic tour by foot of Nevers with lanterns. You’ll travel back to medieval times as we stroll through the winding streets and along the river’s edge.

    We’ll leave by tourist train for a tour of Briare, first admiring the Briare Aqueduct, whose 14 masonry supports were built by the Eiffel company. We’ll also pass by the Town Hall and the Château de Trousse Barrière. We’ll then head to the Deux Marines Museum and discover the history of the Loire and its canals.

    Cruise through the former Berry province and take a magnificent tour of delightful sites, historic cities, and prestigious vineyards.

    We’ll leave for the picturesque town of Pouilly-sur-Loire, where we’ll visit the Tower of Pouilly-Fumé: a wine-tourism center. We’ll visit the vineyard and stop in a cellar for a tasting.

    SANCERRE and a goat farmLENGTH: 4 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & TASTING)

    We’ll depart towards Sancerre for a tour on foot of the city, ambling down the typical small streets of this once medieval town. You’ll be able to visit theTour des Fiefs on your own (192 steps). We’ll then head to a goat farm to sample its trademark cheeses and the local Sancerre wine.

    CHALON-SUR-SAÔNELENGTH: 3.5 HOURS (GUIDE & TASTING)

    Discovery tour of Chalon-sur-Saône and the old town with its half-timbered houses, the restored facade of St Vincent’s cathedral and fine classical mansions dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Our visit will continue downtown with a tasting session of some of the wines from the Chalon-sur-Saône Region.

    CHAMPLITTE CASTLELENGTH: 4.5 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & ENTRANCE)

    We’ll set off by coach for the medieval castle of Champlitte, which has been a listed historical monument since 1909. The castle was a stronghold first and a home second, and was a seat of power located at the boundary of both the Duchy and the County of Burgundy. You will also visit the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, an ethnological museum located in the castle, where the wealth of exhibits give a glimpse into life at the turn of the 20th century.

    DIJONLENGTH: 2 HOURS (GUIDE)

    Guided tour of Dijon, the historic capital of Burgundy. The historic center is packed with many ancient houses, including some beautifully decorated townhouses (built by wealthy medieval burghers) and Parliamentary buildings, and occupies several hectares of what is known as a Protected Area (to preserve Dijon’s ancient monuments and buildings for posterity).

In the 12th century, monks built winegrowing outbuildings in the middle of the vines, completed by a main building in the 16th century. We’ll continue to a wine estate for a tasting of local wines.

    SANTENAYLENGTH: 2 HOURS (TASTING)

    Set off from the ship in the company of your purser for the center of Santenay, a charming little wine-producing village with a priceless historic heritage where a local wine producer will greet you. You will learn more about the wine making process and enjoy a tasting of 3 wines.

    Walk to the CIRQUE DU BOUT DU MONDE

    LENGTH: 3.5 HOURS (TRANSPORT & GUIDE)

    We’ll set off on foot from Nolay for a walk to the Cirque du Bout du Monde, part of Natura 2000 sites - a European network of nature protection areas, to admire the imposing chalk cliffs carved out by the river Cozanne which create a cirque where a 25-metre high waterfall was formed. Our coach will then take us to Mont de Sène (Mountain of the Three Crosses), an ancient Celtic religious site offering wonderful views of the surrounding landscape.

    BURGUNDY CANAL (MS Jeanine)Discover one of the most beautiful regions in France: The Burgundy Canal and its historical capital, Dijon, and the charming, sinuous Petite Saône River. A vacation of a lifetime!

    BESANÇON and its citadel LENGTH: 4 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & ENTRANCE)

    Transfer by coach to the Besançon Citadel, one of Vauban’s great masterpieces. You will learn about the history of this exceptional defensive site in the company of your guide, from its construction through to the present day. It is today listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After the visit, you will have free time to walk around in the citadel.

    CLERVAL (unguided tour)Discover the walking path of the Reposoir Chapel at your own pace. Visit the heart of Clerval, and stroll through this once-fortified village center and along streets lined with 16th-century houses, towers and arches. Travel along the old Route de Bâle and cross a lovely wooded area bringing you to a remarkable panoramic view of the village and valley.

    DOLE, “ le Chat Perché ”

    LENGTH: 2 HOURS (GUIDE)

    Discover Dole, the birthplace of Louis Pasteur, in the company of your guide as you follow the “trail of the Chat Perché”. This is a reference to Marcel Aymé, author of the famous “Contes du Chat Perché”, who spent his childhood years in Dole. Your tour will take you past the many historic monuments which have granted Dole the City of Arts and History label.

The inhabitants of the cities and villages in the Franche-Comté have left their indelible mark on the architectural landscapes in the region. In Montbèliard, the City of Princes, Besançon and its imposing citadel, and the numerous quaint villages, you’ll feel as if you’re strolling through time. The Franche-Comté is known for its green tourism, so throw on a pair of good, sturdy walking shoes and set out on an invigorating hike.

    BAUME-LES-DAMESLENGTH: 2 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & TASTING)

    We’ll set off on foot in the company of one of the town’s guides. You’ll discover the charming local houses dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, followed by the main religious buildings in the town such as the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre (exteriors only) and St Martin’s Church (exteriors only). Next you will visit the famous Abbey of Baume les Dames. The visit ends with a tasting of local products featuring charcuterie and cheeses.

    DELUZ (unguided tour)Discover the footpaths through this village at your own pace. You’ll be able to visit the Natura 2000 “dry grassland” and admire its variety of wild orchids, take in the view from the Loriot Castle and discover the charming Montoille Chapel.

    SAINT-JEAN-DE-LOSNELENGTH: 2.5 HOURS (GUIDE, ENTRANCE & TASTING)

    Today, this city is the capital of barging in France, lying at the heart of the French waterways and canal system in southern Burgundy. You’ll discover the exterior of the Monument Commemorating the Siege of 1636 and the Hôtel-Dieu, as well as the Gare d’Eau (Water Station), the Church of St John the Baptist, and the Batellerie Museum (Sailors’ House) which recounts the history of navigation. Your visit ends with a tasting of some local specialities.

    MONTBELIARDLENGTH: 3 HOURS (GUIDE)

    We’ll set off on foot for a guided tour through the historic heart of the town, a former Württemberg principality. You will travel back in time through four centuries of royal destiny, along streets filled with charm and fantasy. You will discover some fine Renaissance houses, the beautiful Temple of Saint Martin - the oldest Lutheran church in France - as well as the stone covered market. Free time.

    THE ROYAL SALTWORKSLENGTH: 4 HOURS (TRANSPORT, AUDIOGUIDE & ENTRANCE)

    Transfer by coach to Arc-et-Senans to discover La Saline-Royale (Royal Saltworks) built at the wishes of King Louis XV. Today listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this masterpiece was where the salt workers lived and worked. There is time for a stroll in the gardens spread out behind the different buildings.

    PETIT-OUGES (unguided tour)Arrival at the end of the afternoon. Take time to visit this tiny village at your own pace. Discover the surprising mini-museum dedicated to locks and its collection of photos, post cards and objects related to the Burgundy Canal. You can also enjoy a fourkilometer hike on the “Path of the Three Wash Houses”, exposing three historic wash houses in very different styles. This little known area of Dijon that traces its roots back to the 7th century will surprise you.

    ARLES and visit of an olive oil production site

    LENGTH: 4 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & TASTING)

    Depart by foot for a guided tour of Arles. For 2000 years, Arles has maintained an outstanding architectural heritage making it a genuine open-air museum. Afterwards, we’ll leave by coach for a traditional olive farm which produces the famous Provençal olive oil. The owners will explain the cultivation and production of the “yellow gold” of Provence. After this discovery, you will have the opportunity to taste the products of the estate. Return to Arles by coach.

    Discover a manadeLENGTH: 3 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & TASTING)

    Discover a manade and the life of its herders during a wagon tour and take part in a bull sorting. Before returning to the boat, we’ll have a delicious snack with products from the farm.

    ÉTANG DE THAULENGTH: 2.25 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE, ENTRANCE & TASTING)

    The Etang De Thau is well known for its shellfish. We’ll visit the Etang de Thau Museum, where you’ll learn about the shellfish farmers and fishermen, and you’ll enjoy tasting some of the shellfish while taking in the beauty of the basin from a terrace.

    ST-GUILHEM-LE-DÉSERT AND THE DEVIL’S BRIDGE

    We’ll depart from Sète by coach with our guide towards the Pont du Diable (Devil’s Bridge), located at the heart of the Hérault Gorges. We’ll then discover Saint-Guilhem-le- Désert, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. You’ll be delighted by this picturesque town and its abbey (exteriors only). Afterwards, we’ll stop off at a wine estate for a visit followed by a tasting of some of the wines from the Languedoc region.

    THE CANAL DU RHÔNE À SÈTE (MS Anne-Marie)From Arles to Sète, dive into France’s colorful history and heritage in some of the most breathtaking, history-filled cities. Discover Arles under the Mediterranean sun. We’ll also visit Aigues-Mortes—a small, medieval city in one of the most alluring natural sites in Provence—the Camargue, and quaint Sant-Guilhem-le-Désert, registered as one of the most beautiful villages in France (Plus Beaux Villages de France).

    AIGUES-MORTES and the salins du midi saltworks

    LENGTH: 3 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & TASTING)

    We’ll set off for a guided tour of Aigues Mortes. This old walled town with a prestigious heritage is located in the middle of marshlands in one of the loveliest natural settings in Provence. We’ll then board a tourist train which will take us on a 90-minute journey through the salt tables, with a stop at the Salt Museum.

    PARIS and its covered walkways

    LENGTH: 4 HOURS (TRANSPORT & GUIDE)

    Guided visit of Paris. This tour will bring you to some of the most important sites in the capital such as the Madeleine Church and the Louvre. Leaving from the Palais Royal, we’ll walk through the unique Parisian covered walkways — pedestrian shortcuts with a life all to their own within the heart of the bustling city.

    REIMSLENGTH: 5 HOURS (TRANSPORT & GUIDE)

    We’ll depart by coach for Reims, the “City of Coronations”. We’ll enjoy a guided tour on foot and discover the Place Royale, Place Du Forum (Roman forum), the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville and more. We’ll take part in a guided visit of the cathedral, which receives about one million visitors annually.

    MARNE CANAL (MS Raymonde)Surrounded by stunning geography, history, and gastronomy, the Marne River symbolizes Douce France. And yet, it has also been the stage of fierce battles, negotiations, and the coronations of the French monarchs, as well as the backdrop for the most prestigious champagne labels.

    CHÂTEAU-THIERRYLENGTH: 3 HOURS (GUIDE & FALCONRY SHOW)

    In these fortifications which have dominated the Marne Valley for centuries, you’ll take part in a falconry show with live demonstrations. You’ll discover an art that has been listed as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. You’ll literally rub elbows with impressive birds. It’s the perfect occasion to view these amazing animals up close and discover their prowess. In case the falconry show cannot take place, the excursion will be replaced by a visit to the Hôtel-Dieu.

    We’ll take a coach to Meaux and leave on a guided tour of the Episcopal Palace and the Brie de Meaux exhibit hall with a certified guide who will explain the techniques used in making the region’s famous cheese.     Boat tour of STRASBOURG

    LENGTH: 2.5 HOURS (TRANSPORT & PANORAMIC BOAT)

    We’ll set off by coach for the Palais Rohan to board a panoramic boat. Our tour will take us along the canals of the famous Petite France district with its charming half-timbered houses and narrow alleyways. We’ll glide past the Tanners Quarter, the Covered Bridges and the Panoramic Terrace on the Vauban Dam. We’ll continue towards the European Parliament Building and the Human Rights Building where the European Court of Human Rights is located.

    SARREBOURGLENGTH: 3 HOURS (TRANSPORT, GUIDE & ENTRANCE)

    We’ll set off by coach for Sarrebourg. This guided tour of the town will allow you to admire monuments like the cinema, built in 1912, the library and the Custine Hotel.     MARNE-RHINE CANAL (MS Madeleine)Adored by boating tours, this canal, also known as the Greenway, crosses the plain of Alsace and the Vosges. It links Strasbourg and Saverne—the entryway to Alsace at the foot of the Vosges Mountains—and continues through a grand forest to Lutzelbourg in the Moselle. Its amazing route includes several impressive structures—the pinnacle being the one-of-a-kind Arzviller Inclined Plane.

    With your guide, take the opportunity to discover the wonderful Haut-Barr Castle which has been listed as a historic monument since 1874. On our way back to the boat, we’ll stop off at the Chappe Tower, an ancient telegraph, where you’ll see an interactive display on the ancestry of all means of telecommunication.

    LEHRER Crystal Glassworks (unguided tour)Within a short walking distance of the Saint-Louis-Arzviller inclined plane, you’ll visit the Lehrer Crystal Glassworks. Located next to the inclined plane for over 25 years, the Crystal Glassworks will allow you to discover the secrets of glassblowing through a guided tour. During your visit, you’ll be able to watch and marvel at the craftspeople blowing and cutting fine crystal.

    SAVERNELENGTH: 2 HOURS(GUIDE)

    Guided tour of Saverne, a town off the beaten track of the usual tourist haunts, despite its many places to see and admire. Founded in Roman times, the town has preserved many relics from its past. You will visit the Main Street, with its unicorn fountain, the Katz House, the Church of Notre Dame with its porch tower from the 12th century and the former convent of the Récollets founded in the 14th century.

    The hops trail in WALTENHEIM

    LENGTH: 3 HOURS(TRANSPORT, GUIDE & TASTING)

    We’ll set off by coach towards Wingersheim for a tour through the hops fields on board a converted trailer pulled by a tractor. The Hops Trail will allow you to discover how the hops are now grown in Alsace as you travel along this 4.5km-long marked path. After your visit, you’ll be able to join in a beer tasting.
