Many teens will get their first job while still in high school. Building a work ethic is a great and necessary skill, but teens need to be informed to about how best to handle possible workplace violence. Coworkers are not always thoroughly screened, and your teen could face another employee’s rage or anger that could possible put them in danger. Talk to your teens about warning signs—short tempers, intimidation, drug use—and about how to remove themselves when they feel unsafe in a situation, and how to report any concerns they have, to a safe adult. The following is from “Nuestra Parroquia” The Readings and their Message

Deuteronomy 4:32-34, 39-40 In this text we find a clear reference of God’s unique being, in contrast with other places in which the Decalogue is defended. There is a great emphasis here in saying that God is the only God and that all the other gods are false. It is emphasized that only God can save.

Romans 8:14-17 This chapter speaks to us about hope. Death, without any sense of hope, represents total defeat. Just as is death and total defeat, the absence of God, which would mean the lack of hope. The value of hope is seen here, not as something that is purely spiritual and ethereal, but as something that sustains Christians in their path to faith and love, allowing them to face evil and the difficulties of life. Here, a formidable defender exists, which is the Spirit. The Spirit soothes the cry of hope. To reach salvation means to allow the Spirit to work in us.

Matthew 28:16-20 The risen Jesus meets his friends in a specific geographical location they had visited on several occasions. The eleven disciples represent the Church and Jesus speaks to them with full authority. In this passage there is an explicit declaration of the Trinity, in the rite of baptism that the disciples will perform as part of their mission to proclaim and baptize. The Church of Jesus Christ is a missionary community and the mission is what gives it its signs of identity. The missionary mandate is made in a manner that is parallel to the send off of the prophets in the Old Testament: the manifestation of God, mandate or teaching, and the promise of assisting and remaining with them.

Mr. John Hammerbacher, our parish music and liturgy coordinator and music teacher at our parish school, will retire this summer after 35 years of distinguished and loving service to God and to our parish family.

John and his wife will soon move out of state. We are deeply grateful to John,

and we will miss him and his wife Marilyn very much.

We would like to invite all our parishioners to a farewell reception for Mr. Hammerbacher. You can come either on Saturday, June 2nd, after the 5pm Mass or on Sunday, June 3rd, after the 9:30am Mass, in the auditorium. Please come and join us to personally thank Mr. Hammerbacher.

Los compañeros de trabajo no siempre son investigados exhaustivamente, y su hijo adolescente podría enfrentar la rabia o el enojo de otra persona que lo pone en peligro. Lo siguiente es de “Nuestra Parroquia” Las lecturas y su mensaje

Deuteronomio 4:32-34, 39-40 En este texto encontramos una clara referencia al ser único de Dios, en contraste con otros lugares en los que se defiende el Decálogo. Aquí hay un gran énfasis en decir que Dios es el único Dios y que todos los demás dioses son falsos. Se insiste en que solo Dios puede salvar.

Romanos 8:14-17 Este capítulo nos habla de esperanza. La muerte, sin sentido de esperanza, es la derrota total. Como es muerte y derrota total, la ausencia de Dios, que significaría la falta de esperanza. Se ve aquí el valor de la esperanza no como algo puramente espiritual y etéreo, sino como lo que sostiene a los cristianos en el camino de la fe y el amor, permitiéndoles enfrentarse al mal y a las dificultades de la vida. Existe aquí un defensor formidable que es el Espíritu. El Espíritu alienta el gemido de la esperanza. Alcanzar la salvación supone dejar que obre el Espíritu en nosotros.

Mateo 28:16-20 Jesús resucitado se encuentra con sus amigos en un lugar geográfico concreto, donde ya habían estado en otras ocasiones. Los once discípulos representan a la Iglesia y Jesús les habla con plena autoridad. Se da en este pasaje una declaración explícita de la Trinidad, en el rito del Bautismo que los discípulos van a impartir como parte de su misión de anunciar y bautizar. La Iglesia de Jesucristo es una comunidad misionera y la misión es lo que le da sus señas de identidad. El mandato misionero está hecho de una manera paralela a los envíos de los profetas en el Antiguo Testamento: manifestación de Dios, mandato o enseñanza y promesa de asistirlos y permanecer con ellos.
