The StoryThe Story

My partner, Victor Pleshev, an architect, and me, Carol Jones, a market research consultant, lost everything we had in Paul Keating’s recession we had to have in 1992.

We escaped the city lights for the rural life. And started a new life.

In 1994, Victor designed an ironing board cover for his mother, Margarita, to help her keep her cover on her board when she was recovering from a stroke.

An accidental business is born. Today, the Fitz Like A Glove™ Ironing Board Cover has more than 300,000 customers in 29 countries. Is made with love and care in rural Australia by men and women who have a disability. And we have a lifestyle that’s the envy of most people.

We did what everyone said we couldn’t do. We established a worldwide business from a remote rural property before email, the internet and even call waiting arrived in our rural village.
