The year marches on and the AGM draws near, Sunday October 27. As usual we meet at the Sandy Point Community Hall for morning tea at 10am. Our meeting proper commences at 11am sharp. After the meeting there are tables and chairs for your picnic lunch. The hall is very well set up with boiling water, outdoor sheltered area overlooking the river as well as a great hall and rest rooms. Bring morning tea and lunch as there are no shops nearby.
All members most welcome to attend and think about volunteering for a position next year.
It was great to see Ron and his Overland, Graeme and his Whippet , David Cox, Peter Maher and John Gale at Linwood House on Independent’s Day on July 14.
It is good to support the volunteers that are working hard to keep the house and grounds
in public ownership. Unfortunately the band couldn’t make it this year, but there was plenty to look at in the house and on the verandahs. And of course the Devonshire teas and sausage sizzle were available.
Once again there are WWOKR cars attending the Eastern creek event this year. For a small club it is a big rollup, keeping the Willysname alive.
A reminder also for those who have not as yet renewed their subscriptions.. now is the time . Don’t put it off any longer.
Our Berry run was great as usual. Always a nice easy run down to Shoalhaven Heads on Saturday and a short drive into Berry Showground on Sunday. If anyone wants to attend next year May 16th and 17th are the 2020 dates.
All those who attended this year have already booked their accommodation for 2020. If you’re thinking of coming please book now, either the Shoalhaven Heads Mountain View Resort
(about $130 per night, min 2 night stay)Phone: 4448 7281.
Alternatively you can book a room at Coolangatta Estate (adjacent to Mountain View)Ph: 4448 7131….tariff here about $220 per night.
For our NSW members on Historic Registration with the ‘log book system’ and have WWOKR as their primary club, please let me know of this fact so we can record the cars using this system. We are working on a credit sized membership card for our members using WWOKR for NSW Historic registration and they should be readyfor the AGM.
It is with sadness that we mark the passing of Les Butler. He was a long time member and many of you would remember his humour and his Willys ute. Our sympathies go out to his family.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone at the AGM and the Christmas party on Saturday November 30th . We have been able to once again book the Matraville RSL Bowling club. Happy Motoring.

Vale Les ButtlerWe received sad news from Brad Butler on 1st July, informing us that his Dad Les Butler passed away last month. He was fighting fit up until the day before but woke up during the night feeling terrible, so he called an ambulance, He was taken to Nowra hospital and then Wollongong Hospital where they were
monitoring him, but unfortunately he had a fatal heart attack in his hospital bed. He was 2 weeks shy of 91, Kind regards, Brad Butler
Les and l joined WWOKR at about the same time in 1984 and instantly became great mates with our shared interest in Willys vehicles and fondness for a few quiet beers. Les had his own successful ladies hairdressing salon in the city and retired at an early age then together with his son restored his 1938 Willys Coupe Ute and together with his wife Jean became regular participants in club outings before they retired to the Shoalhaven
area. Les remained a member of the club and kept up to date with news and events with his thorough reading of the magazine from cover to cover. Les looked after himself after Jean died and lived at home until 4 weeks prior to
his 91st birthday. RIP Les a life well lived. Jim Lovett

EVENTS****WEDNESDAY**** 4th September
Arriving by 9:45 am Sharp for morning tea (provided) we will be going on a guided tour of the
Guide Dog Centre
The Guide Dogs Centre is set on 25 acres in the Hawkesbury Shire and is 9km from Windsor. Opening in 2000, the Centre provides accommodation for dogswho are training to be Guide Dogs. The tour begins at 10am, starting with morning tea and runs for approximately two hours. There are no refreshments available, and being a dog trainingcentre we ask that no food be brought on site.As Guide Dogs NSW/ACT receives less than 5% in government funding and the organisation relies greatly on the generosity of the public for support, we suggesta minimum contribution of $5 per person. Of course, if you would like to make a larger contribution, we would be grateful.

Bob Daly has a contact that will allow us to have
a private visit to Retford Park, an historical house
at Bowral. We can have the opportunity to have an
extensive tour which goes well beyond the usual public
tour. The house was the original summer residence for
the Horden Family of department store fame, and, was
purchased in the 60’s by the Fairfax family.
We can only have this special tour on a weekday and so
are proposing Thursday February 27th 2020. In order
to secure a tour we need to have some
definite numbers.
Can members that are interested please indicate by
return email so that Bob can go ahead with
the organisation.
Let Bob Dalyknow ASAP if youwould like to come4655 6034
