Buckingham Palace• This is Buckingham Palace:• IT is the official residence of the British

Queen in London.• It’s the focal* point of the British people at

times of joy,crisis and grief*.• Its name was Buckingham House and it was

built in 1703.

Saint Paul’s Cathedral

- Saint Paul’s cathedral was destroyed in 1666. and was rebuilt by Christopher Wren in 1708.

- This is the most visited cathedral in the heart of the city and the most majestic.

BIG BEN

• Big Ben is the nickname for the big bell of the Clock Tower of the Palace of Westminster.

• The building faces the River Thames.• The first bell was made in 1856. • It was built in 1843-1859 by Charles Barry • The Clock Tower has been renamed the

Tower Elizabeth, in honor of the Queen for her diamond jubilee (June 2012).
