THE EVANGEL-APRIL/MAY 2018 FROM THE PASTORS DESK This month’s newsletter is going to be a commercial for Walk to Emmaus. This 72 hour experience is hands-down one of the best things I have ever done. I am not afraid to tell you it is like going on vacation from everything (even your watch) and putting loving and caring Christians in charge of your time. To be together with lots of other men or women who are all on the weekend to make sure “you” are taken care of is a real treat (also talking about the food). They will show you the true meaning of the love of Jesus’ community li ke you have never felt before. Walk to Emmaus is a comfortable environment to learn from peers first- hand about the love of Jesus. On the weekend there are 15 short talks spread out over the 72 hours. There is a group of staff to care for everything and lots of breaks and food. We often have seniors and as young as after college attend. They will accommodate for any dietary or special needs during the weekend. Here is the deal (something important is about to follow), you just simply need to experience this. It is a gift of incredible proportions. We have our 2 nd chance to have this in our area and I don’t want any of us to miss this chance. On July 12 th through 15 th the men have their chance to go. And on July 19 th through 22 nd the women’s weekend will be happening. Please understand the Church will cover your expenses. We will sponsor you as a church and pray for you while you’re there. All the while, we will be there for your family while you’re gone. This will be the most relaxed and worry free you have been since adult-ing. So if you have ANY questions, please ask any of us that have been, and we will give you answers. Now lets talk about my recent Israel trip! What a blessing that in February I was able to visit the Holy land. It was an amazing trip sponsored by the Knights Templar. We saw lots of amazing sites and those places really make the scriptures come alive. To be at the place of the upper room and look across to the walls of Jerusalem was simply a treat. To walk on the same steps our Savior must have walked is breathtaking. One of my highlights was that my roommate and I were locked in overnight in the Church of the Holy Seplechure and spent a couple hours in the Seplechure itself, which during the day has at least a 2-hour line (and we had the place to ourselves all night). All in all, it was a great trip and the entire time we all felt very safe and cared for. If you want to see more or some of the stuff I brought back and a few of the 4k photos I took, check the calendar of events for my sharing time at each church. Blessings to you all! Jason W. Collier
