Pocahontas knew that he would
have to return to his home in Lon-
don to survive. “I’ll always be with you,”
she told him, and kissed him good-
bye. As his ship sailed away, the wind
touched them both again.

Listen to Your Heart
Pocahontas looked at Grandmother
Willow. Worried by a dream about
a spinning arrow, she asked, “What is
My Path”? Grandmother Willow told
her about spirits in the earth, water, and
sky. “If you listen they will guide you,”
she said.

She knew what her path was and stopped
John Smith with her own body and showed
that love is stronger than hate. Peace fol-

Pocahontas went to see Grandmother Willow.
“How could one girl stop a war between two
peoples? I feel so lost,” she told the tree spirit.
Meeko found a compass he had taken from
John Smith. Inside was a Spinning arrow. “My
Dream!” she exclaimed.

Climbing to a hilltop, Pocahontas felt the
wind and saw strange white clouds. The
clouds were sails of a ship with strangers
coming to her land.

In the prisoner’s hut, Pocahontas cried. “I’d
rather die tomorrow than live a hundred
years without knowing you,” John Smith told
her. Hoping to save their land, Pocahontas’
people were planning to leave the village and
go to war with John Smith’s people.

Nakoma disagreed. She asked Pocahontas not
to see John Smith again, but her friend went
into the woods anyway.
In fear, Nakoma sent a warrior to look for her
friend. John Smith was taken prisoner. “I‘m
sorry,” said Nakoma. “I thought I was doing the
right thing.”

Pocahontas took John to Grandmother
Willow. “He has a good soul,” she told
Pocahontas. The young woman was very hap-
py. When John Smith left, Grandmother Wil-
low said that maybe she had found her path.

Pocahontas began to teach John Smith about
her world. “We are all connected to each oth-
er,” she told him. She showed him a mother
bear with her cubs. They listened to wolves

cut it down, you’ll never know.”

With Pocahontas as his teacher, John Smith
could hear the voices in the mountains and
see colours in the wind. She was right. No
one owned the land. Understanding, he
held her hands and looked into her eyes.

“I’m Pocahontas,” she told him. They
laughed at Meeko, a mischievous rac-
coon, and Flit, her hummingbird friend
who protected her.
She knew in her heart the goodness of
John Smith, and realized she was safe.
