Let’s See What Was Happening in June of 1978 Part ll
In the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave
Article 2 by Joe Malone
WHEN NATIONS DIE
Virtually all of us are familiar with that frequently quoted historical observation about the
overwhelming majority of recognizable civilizations of the past have gone into an ignoble oblivion
because of moral decay within, not because of a superior military force from without.
That is not to minimize the danger to the United States which Russia and China constitute. The
Old Testament shows abundantly that God used godless nations to chastise his won people from
time to time. Such only transpired because of much and prolonged disobedience.
Krushchev declared with reference to America, “We’ll bury you!” In view of our present course,
should such a catastrophe befall us, it could well be the consequence of national suicide — not
communistic murder. We would simply fall, because of our spiritual and moral degeneration, like
rotten, over-ripe fruit, without any foreign enemy having to strike a single blow.
As has been said, “America is great because America is good. When America ceases to be good,
she will cease to be great.”
George Washington declared, “It is impossible rightly to govern the world without God and the
Bible.” And Andrew Jackson said, “That book, sir, is the rock on which our republic rests.”
However, when we have such things as the Watergate and Lockheed scandals; when we have
elected officials in the national government maintaining paramours on their payroll at public
expense; when we have acknowledged sexual perverts publicly and unashamedly posing as
guides to God; when we have such a high tide of crime that bands of young hoodlums assault and
rob the aged and infirm with seemingly little restraint, and when ordinary citizens plan to
organize vigilante groups to protect themselves since such a small minority of criminals are
brought to account, and when all of this is looked upon by so many with a “so what?” attitude, it
is high time we take stock as to whether or not “that book sir, is the rock on which our republic
rests.”
Atheists have a lot of company in negating the Word of the living God!
“Righteousness exalteth a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.” It is later than you think,
and those who do not learn history will be compelled to relive it!
The situation is not without hope. Christians, one and all, must cry out against prevailing
conditions and see to it that our voice is heard; and we must not condone worldliness within our
own ranks.
The Cracked Acorn
Wealth June 18, 2017 c.r. van arsdall
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 1 Timothy 6:17
You want to be a millionaire?
If you accomplish your goal, you will join the increasingly wealthy world individuals that number close to 8 million today; up 14% since 2005.
There are 691 world billionaires; ten in the United States. If all goes well for Bill Gates, in five years or less, he will be the world's first trillionaire. (As I recall from school days that means a million million dollars!)
Bulletin space will not let us explore how all this wealth was accumulated. The stock market, gold and precious metals have been rewarding to those willing to take a chance. It may be said that many of the wealthy have been in the right market at the right time.
If we were asked who was the wealthiest man in the Bible, we would probably say Solomon, the son of King David. Indeed, he had it all!
Before the time of Israel, there was another man that was immensely wealthy. It was in the days before coinage and all wealth was in land, and animals. Some references mention slaves. This man stood out in his time of history and has been called a man of righteousness, of patience and one who worshipped and prayed to the "one God."
This man, Job, could have lived as far back as 2500 B.C. in the land of Uz. He "was blameless, and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil." (Job 1:1)
God was very proud of Job. So proud to the point that He allowed Satan to put Job to a test, sparing his life. Satan was sure that all the wealth and protection had come from God. If this was taken away, Job would curse God. (1:11,12)
Job's family was taken, his wealth disappeared, and he was afflicted with skin boils. His friends were not any help and his wife added to his distress. If we stick through the 42 chapters we learn that Job never received answers to his many questions put to God. God is God! It is not within man to know the purposes of our creator. The book of Job ends happily ever after. His wealth is restored many times over, he has more children and he lives a total of 248 years. "He saw his children and grandchildren for four generations." (42:16)
Why the book of Job?
"The subject is as old as the hills and as modern as the space age. If God is just and good, why does HE let innocent people suffer? (Why the casual victims of war and terrorism? Why the child dying of cancer?) As a man Job is really as good as a man can ever hope to be. Yet calamity overwhelms him. Loss of possessions and family is followed by grim, prolonged physical suffering that shakes his faith to the depths." (from EERDMAN's Concise Bible Handbook)
So, you want to be a millionaire?

A real man loves his wife, & places his family as the most important thing in life. Nothing has brought me more peace and content in life than simply being a good husband and father.
Frank Abagnale
Mr Abagnale may be unknown to many reading
this article. But due to his life he has very good
reason to know the truth of the above quote.
Parents separated at 12 divorced at 16 when he
ran away from home and began a successful life
of crime. After some time, this life came to an
end when he was apprehended by the FBI and
imprisoned for a very long sentence.
Yet it was precisely because he was successful
the FBI “sprang” him and gave him a job
working for them. After 40 years working for
the FBI and owner of his own company he is the
proud father of 3 boys and happily married.
His life has been divergent enough to have giv-
en him the insight above and sufficient to afford
him the credence all can believe him.
Paul the apostle lived such a life & understood
full well the great responsibility one has to be a
