A Note from the Community Lay Director… You wouldn’t know it, but Spring is here! Not only by what the calendar says, but we know it is spring because
the Spring Walks are just around the corner. Oh my, how God has blessed these walks with many pilgrims!
You might say, we are really surprised by the work of our sponsors in bringing Pilgrims to come close to filling
the Men’s and Women’s Walks – 30 men and 31 women. Wow, God is so good!
Nothing should surprise us by what God can do. God knows everything about us – He knows those who he had
already chosen to participate on a team and he knew exactly who he wanted to be a Pilgrim on these Walks.
From His perspective, God can see past, present, and future all at once. That should give us great confidence
in God. It’s comforting to me that he knows everything that is going to happen in the life of our community.
He not only knows about the future, he’s also there in the future. He not only walks with us day by day, He can
also walk in our future. God is already prepared for everything the Lay Directors will face on these Walks.
At the Gathering on the 23rd we had the opportunity to Commission the Lay Directors and Teams for the Walks
and Flights. How exciting it is to lay hands on these men, women and youth who answered the call to serve.
Even more comforting to know that God is with them each moment of every day.
At the Gathering I announced 2018 is the 25th Anniversary for our Emmaus Community. I am calling on all past
Community Lay Directors of the Board to get in touch with me regarding putting together a Celebration for this
very special time in the life of the Columbus Emmaus Community. The Upper Room Emmaus Area representa-
tive has contacted me, and they would like to be included in our celebration. We are looking possibly at one of
our Gathering events in the fall.
In the meantime, I will look forward to seeing you all at the send offs for the Men’s and Women’s Walk on April
5th and April 12th at Camp Lakeview. Please come out to support these men and women who have been called
to experience a renewal in their Walk with Christ. See you there!
De Colores,
Phil Newton

Men’s Walk #107 TEAMS for SPRING WALKS Women’s Walk #108
Let’s get to know our new board members…
Hello! My name is Debbie Frey. I am your new board member serving on Agape team. I fell in love with the Emmaus community when I went on my walk the Spring 2000 Walk 34 table of Sarah and have remained active ever since. I feel serving as a board member gives me an opportunity to give back to a community that has given so much to me. I have learned so much about myself as well as serving God and others. Serving on Emmaus walks and serving along side my husband and sons on Chrysalis Flights has developed confidence and leadership skills I never knew I had in me.
I am married to my high school sweetheart of 42 years. We are blessed with 4 sons, 3 daughter in-laws and 7 grandchildren. Denny and I grew up in Vincennes, IN but spent 32 years Seymour IN pri-or to moving to Shelbyville, IN 6 years ago for Denny’s profession where we currently reside. We worship at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Shelbyville and are actively involved in our Respect Life ministry as well as Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
With our relocation to Shelbyville I landed an amazing opportunity to serve in a new capacity of nursing for me. I am an instructor for a company out of Mississippi that prepares nursing students for their licensing exam (NCLEX) so it gives me the opportunity to travel to new areas within the US and Canada. I feel this is possible because of the leadership skills I have mastered from serving Emmaus. If I could give you one piece of advice – get involved with our Emmaus community either serving on a walk, flight or Emmaus board and you may discover, as I did, gifts and talents you didn’t even know you had.
De Colores,
Debbie Frey
A Note from our Community Spiritual Director…
The Easter season has come! And opportunities for new life & closer walks with the Risen Christ abound in our Emmaus & Chrysalis com-munities this month.
As the Emmaus & Chrysalis teams are preparing to serve our newest pilgrims & caterpillars, the rest of our communities can ensure that Agape love covers each of those weekends. Let’s make sure that all of the prayer charts are filled in with devoted pray-ers. And for our pilgrim & caterpil-lar SPONSORS, let me encourage you to:
STAY after the Send-Off for the Sponsors’ Hour,
ATTEND the Candlelight,
PLUG in your new community member to a Reunion group, &
BRING that new community member & family to the May Gathering!
In whatever way you support these upcoming Walks & Flights, be assured that you will have an incredible and eternal impact on our families, communities, & Christ’s Church!
De Colores,
Pastor Mike Seaney (Emmaus community Spiritual Director)

Don’t forget we always love to have plenty of Agape for the beds, tables, and dining hall. You can find many ideas on Pinterest or google Agape ideas.

A from our Head Music… Psalm 150:4 Praise Him with timbrel and dancing, praise Him with the strings and pipe.
The walk music teams are honing their skills, preparing to lead the pil-grims in praise and worship. Singing to and about God is such a important part of the experience for the pilgrims. There is so much awesome worship music available to us now days. It's such a blessing that we are able to freely sing and play to our God and Savior. We are still needing singers and players! I encourage all musicians in the Emmaus Community to fill out a team application if you are interested in serving on a gathering and/or walk music team. Or just email me and I can get you plugged in. [email protected] De Colores Mark Neafus
Do you ever feel like you can’t remember dates and
times to Emmaus Events or need to double check a
location of a gathering??
GUESS WHAT??
There is an up-to-date Community Calendar on the
Website that the Emmaus Board has included all
dates, times and locations for many events within the
Emmaus Community. From the link tab you will see
additional details. It is our hope that this location will help the Community
keep track of all future events. Help us to add information and updates as
needed by sending info to [email protected]
Be sure to check it out!!
SPONSORSHIP
Dear Sponsor, I want to thank you for the time, prayer and effort you have already put in to bring your pilgrim(s) to what is going to be a God-appointed moment for them. With out you this would never happen. God can reach our pilgrims and teach them what He Wills, but He wants to use us. What a privilege and honor and so humbling that is. "Christ is counting on you. And I am counting on Christ."
I trust you are still praying for your pilgrim-to-be; switching your prayers from "are they the one?" "Will they say yes?" to "may they be receptive to what You, Lord, want to show them between now and the walk, and during the walk;" and May You, Lord, keep them safe and secure during this time". I trust you are also checking your sponsor check-list to see that you are "on time" with your endeavors to make this walk a memorable one for your pilgrim(s).
Please put on your calendar April 20th at 6:30 pm at Columbus Chris-tian Church for the new pilgrims-turned-community-members' 4th Day meeting. This is meant to be encouraging meeting where we explain in more detail (and as a reminder of what was said on Sunday of their walk) about Reunion Groups and the importance of prayerful, trusting support of others in our daily walks.
THANK YOU! MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS AND KEEP YOU!
Marsha Rodenberger,
sponsorship & reunion groups
A Note from the Chrysalis Board... As we all look forward to the wonderful activities revolving around the upcoming Men's and Wom-en's Emmaus weekends, please remember the spring 2018 Chrysalis Flights are right around the corner!
They'll be happening Saturday April 28 through Monday April 30 back out at Camp Hilltop in Brown County.
The Flights are open to high school freshmen through college freshmen (those in high school are given a school excuse for April 30).
The Flights are filled with wonderful talks (the young men and women share a number of the talks), great music, incredible food, and laughter.
Is there a young person in your life who you know would enjoy a Chrysalis Flight, and it would help them with their walk with Christ? Is there a son, daughter, grand-son, granddaughter, nephew, niece, young person at your church, or a young person you're mentoring you could sponsor ? It can be very difficult to be a teen in today's society, and Chrysalis is a wonderful gift to help them focus on eternal matters.
The cost is $20 off if the application is turned in by this upcoming Friday April 6 (so, the cost is just $65), and the final application deadline is Friday April 20.
We don't want cost to a barrier for any young person, and scholarships are availa-ble. Applications can be found at "columbusareaemmaus.community".
Please watch for upcoming information on how you can participate in the upcoming weekend (such as helping take out supplies the evening of Tuesday April 24, Send-Off Saturday morning April 28, Candlelight Sunday evening April 29, Closing late afternoon Monday April 30), but we might lift up that our Board Transportation person Lora Coles could use help lining up drivers to transport the youth back and forth to Candlelight, and to Closing. If you think you could help with this, please call or text her at 812-343-7176.
Help us make sure these Flights are overflowing with the wonderful young people in our lives!
