The Lord God is Our Daily Joy!

The love of God is beautiful. There is no substitute for the divine. Surely we are blessed

in this reality: God is eternal and his love for us is without end. In our first reading this weekend the wisdom writer is overwhelmed with the struggles of

daily life. He is exhausted physically, emotionally and financially. He has no where to go other

than the Lord God. In the Lord, the true disciple finds comfort and direction. In these heightened years of international violence by Radical Islamic Terrorists; our own

home grown villains as at Columbine High School or Sandy Hook Elementary; and even domestic

violence that takes the life of another, we feel like the world has gone mad. We may believe, “just let me become as violent,

that’s the answer.” Then enter the Holy Spirit with the eternal wisdom of God’s justice. We will focus as a society, responding

with every available discipline to overcome violence, suppress retaliation and pursue justice. It is a slow and heart wrenching

process but it also wins the day. “So we take our failures to the foot of the Cross and we lay our burdens down and we get our feet on solid ground.” So

turn to the Lord when we are overwhelmed, knowing that whatever happens God is with us eternally. Hope springs eternal! When we are overwhelmed, we are encouraged to turn to the Lord God knowing that whatever happens, God is with us

eternally. Hope springs eternal!

God bless you. Father Gerlach
