The Ecosystem

A community of living organisms

(plants, animals and microbes) in

conjunction with the non-living

components of their environment

(things like air, water and mineral soil),

interacting as a system.

LIVING ELEMENTS

A living thing is called an organism. An

organism is made up of cells. Plants,

humans, and animals are living things,

Things such as rocks or toys, are not living.

INTERACTION OF LIVING AND NON-LIVING THINGS

A living thing and a non living thing interact with

one another simply by the non living thing is like

a bacteria and it gets into the living things

bloodstream and that's how they interact.

HOW DO LIVING AND NON-LIVING THINGS DEPEND ON EACH OTHER?

*By food and 1 is the prey who is eatenWe depend on non living

things for a source food, they depend on us well in a sense we look

after them as stewards of the earth.

*

and the predator is the one that eats it

HOW DO LIVING AND NON-LIVING THINGS DEPEND ON EACH OTHER?

*

Several was living things and

non living thing depend on each other

because non living things help the

living things in this world.

Page 9: The Ecosystem

Each day as the Sun rises, our little blue

world is showered with heat and light.

This energy from the Sun is very

important to all life on Earth. Without it,

life could not exist.

PREVENTION OF DEVASTATION

A safe and sound environment is the

precondition for human life itself, environmental

protection must take precedence over other

public goals. And the fundamental problem is how

Americans live -- we consume too much, waste

too much and restore too little

Page 12: The Ecosystem

PREVENTION OF DEVASTATION

Despite some gains, we're still making an

unprecedented assault on the environment,

leading to irreversible and perhaps catastrophic

effects. Global warming, in particular, is a real

threat that requires coordinated global action.
