Introduction

• The Eagles have stood the test of time. Formed in 1971, they are as relevant today as they were forty years ago. Selling millions of records made them a no brainer to be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. The group was inducted by Jimmy Buffett in 1998. Success to this group did not come without sacrifice. The band endured trials and challenges but was able to survive and become one of the greatest bands in the history of Rock n Roll.

Eagles

• The Eagles released their first album, “Eagles” in 1972.

• This album featured the hits “Take it Easy” “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and “Witchy Woman”

• “Eagles” went gold shortly after its release.

Desperado• The Eagles released their

second album “Desperado shortly after their first in 1973.

• Desperado was not as successful, but contained one of the bands most popular songs, “Desperado” which has been named one of the 500 greatest songs of all time.

On the Border

• On the Border was the third album recorded by the Eagles.

• It was released in 1974.• This recorded featured

Don Felder as a new guitarist in the group.

• The hit single of this album was “The Best of My Love.

One of These Nights

• One of These Nights was the fourth album recorded by the Eagles.

• This album was very successful, containing three Top 10 singles.

• Shortly after completion of this album, Bernie Leadon left the group.

Hotel California• The fifth album recorded

by the Eagles was “Hotel California”.

• This album won two Grammy awards and was nominated for Album of the Year.

• This album included three Top 20 Singles “New Kid in Town”, “Hotel California” and “Life in the Fast Lane.

The Long Run• The Long run was released in

1979 and was the Eagles sixth album.

• This was the first album that included new band member Timothy Schmit, who replaced Randy Meisner shortly after the recording of Hotel California.

• The Long Run featured three Top 10 singles in “Heartache Tonight”, “I Cant Tell You Why” and “In the City”.

The Break-up

• Shortly after the recording of their sixth album, the band split up due to differences amongst various members of the group.

• Members pursued solo careers and released their own albums as well as pursued acting careers.

• Don Henley was the most successful solo artist of the group.

The Reunion• In 1994 the band put

aside its differences and reunited. The album “Hell Freezes Over” was recorded shortly after.

• Hell Freezes Over sold over 10 million copies and was number one on the Top Pop Album Charts.

Hall of Fame

• In 1998 the Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

• All members of the band were present and performed together for the first time.

• Jimmy Buffet was chosen by the group to introduce them on the stage.

• The Eagles were one of the most influential bands in the history of music.

• They have sold millions of records worldwide with over 50 hit singles over the years.

• Their music will continue to stand the test of time, as it is enjoyed today by all generations of fans.
