THE DUTY OF BINDING SATAN THE BELIEVERS AUTHORITY Having been freed in CHRIST and translated from the dominion of Satan to the Kingdom of God (Col. 1:13-14), we have obtained authority to bind Satan and his elements. Our authority is mentioned in Mark 16:17-18, Luke 10:19, 1 John 4:4, Matt. 16:18-19 Binding Satan, casting out demons, and executing judgment upon all wickedness is part of our inheritance (Psalms 149:6-9) OUR WEAPONS OF WARFARE Not carnal but spiritual 2 Cor. 10:4-6 OUR ARMOR Detailed description of our weapons Eph. 6:10-18 OUR ARMOR Detailed description of our weapons Eph. 6:10-18 OUR ARMOR The belt of TRUTH. Truth holds all things together; it girds all other parts of the armor and is first mentioned because without it, things fall apart (1 Pet. 3:10-11, Deut. 16:20, 1 Tim. 6:11-12) Breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS. Without a good standing with God, the battle is lost already (Num. 14:40-45, Ps. 78:9-11, Josh. 7:10-13, Ac. 19:13-16) Preparedness to share the Gospel of Peace. A Christian who is ashamed of sharing the Gospel has lost the battle already (Rev. 12:11). The power of God is the power of the Gospel; it accompanies witnessing OUR ARMOR The shield of FAITH. It is this shield that stops all fiery darts of Satan and his cohorts; remember Satan works by deception and intimidation and is very persistent. Our faith must be enduring (Heb. 11: 32-34, 1 Sam. 17:45-46) The helmet of Salvation. If we lose consciousness of the FACT of our Salvation, we lose the battle. We must have our eyes forever fixed on the cross and looking to JESUS always, thus renewing our minds (Isa. 59:16- 17, Rev. 12:11, Heb. 12:1-4, Rom. 12:1-2). If you think like a grasshopper, you can only act as one (Num. 13:33, Prov. 23:7) OUR ARMOR The Sword of the Spirit. The Word of God is our only weapon of assault. Your weapon of assault is not pouring insults on Satan. The strength of spiritual warfare is not in arrogance but in knowledge and use of Scripture (Mtt. 4:1-11, Heb. 4:12). As much as possible, quote the Scriptures in warfare Praying Always. The battle ground is prayer. Spiritual warfare is a war of words. Satanic elements to bind The Spirit of Divination Using satanic or occult means to foretell the future/expose knowledge (2 Kings 17:16-17) Uses mechanical props like salt, sand, tarot card, tea leaves, lumps on the head, lines on the palm, horoscope, occult computer games, charms, drugs, ouija boards, etc Satanic elements to bind The Spirit of Divination Using satanic or occult means to foretell the future/expose knowledge (2 Kings 17:16-17) Uses mechanical props like salt, sand, tarot card, tea leaves, lumps on the head, lines on the palm, horoscope, occult computer games, charms, drugs, ouija boards, etc Destroy anything cultic in your home (Deut. 7:25-26) The Familiar Spirit Consulting the dead, mediums, spiritists, yoga, transcendental meditation, psychic powers, poltergeists Lev. 20:27, 1 Sam. 28:7-8, 1 Chron. 10:13-14 Often passed down a family tree Yoga: Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation. The Spirit of Jealousy Desiring what is anothers A chief characteristic of Satan (together with pride) that led to his fall Note: People who cannot control their anger open up to this demon The Lying Spirit One of the most active strongmen of the end times (Isa. 59:14) Note: All liars are vulnerable to this principality The Lying Spirit One of the most active strongmen of the end times (Isa. 59:14) Note: All liars are vulnerable to this principality The Perverse Spirit Filthiness leading to types of self-abuses Note: All those who abuse themselves through masturbation, pornography, etc open up to this principality The Haughty Spirit Spirit of pride and boastfulness This principality governs the earth and many lives; it is behind competition, and the reason why many will not submit to God or pray Note: All those who fail to guard their hearts against pride open up to this principality The Spirit of Heaviness Spirit of inferiority complex, brokenness, acute depression, self-pity, and suicide Note: This principality attacks believers and many eventually backslide, attacks marriages and they eventually crumble The Spirit of Whoredoms Spirit of idolatry and promiscuity (Num. 25:1-13) Very much entrenched in modern society. An average party in the world is an orgy Note: Love for money and the relentless pursuit of this world (at the expense of spiritual riches) are all motivated by this principality The Spirit of Infirmity Spirit of impotence, weakness, affliction, disease (John 5:1-5) Note: No sickness is meant to glorify God. God is glorified in sickness by healing it (John 9:3 and John 11:4) rather than in its persistence Hindrances to Healing Unconfessed sin (Ps 66:18, 1 Cor. 11:27-30) Fear of an illness such as cancer (Job 3:25) Ignorance and unbelief Breakdown due to lack of rest or proper nutrition Hereditary weakness ignorantly accepted Weird desire of being sick for illogical reasons Persistently walking in the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21) Some Ways of Healing Anointing with oil (Js 5:14-15) Agreement (Matt. 18:19-20, Mk 11:24) Laying on of hands (Mk 16:17-18) Gifts of healing (1 Cor. 12:8-9, 11) The Dumb and Deaf Spirit Spirit of dumbness, madness, and deafness We learn 4 key things from Mk 9: We need guiding information when conducting deliverance 2.We need faith 3.We should avoid distractions 4.Children can be harassed by demons The Spirit of Bondage Spirit of fear, addiction, corruption, sinful yokes This strongman keeps people 1.Bound in sin 2.Bound with fears 3.Bound with diverse addictions NOTE: Total bondage doesnt occur in a day. Its a series of steps taken to satisfy the flesh Js 1:13-16 The Spirit of Bondage The Spirit of Fear Spirit of anxiety, horror, nightmares, night terrors, stress, timidity, worry, and phobias, e.g., Acrophobia (fear of height), astraphobia (fear of lightning), claustrophobia (fear of enclosed places), hydrophobia (fear of water), nyctophobia (fear of darkness), pyrophobia (fear of fire), thanatophobia (fear of death) The Spirit of Fear Two kinds of Fear: Positive Fear: Fear that keeps us from getting hurt; it is deep respect. For example, I respect fire and electricity, so I obey their laws to stay off. Similarly, I revere God, so I obey His commandments Negative Fear: Fear that has torment (1 Jn 4:18); fear of terror, disaster, disease, demotion, death (Heb. 2:14-15), etc. Adam and Eve had positive fear towards God before their fall. Such fear enabled them to keep His commandments but did not scare them from His presence. After the fall, they had negative fear which led to timidity and bondage (no peace, joy, faith, love, etc). Ignorance can lead corrupt positive fear, e.g., the prodigal son (Lk 15:11-32) Spirits of Seduction Spirit of fascination, attractions, enticement, tantalization, temptation, allurement This strongman often appeals to the lusts of the eyes, flesh, and the pride of life (Gen. 3:1-6; 34:1-2, 2 Sam. 13:1-2, 1 Jn 2:15-17) The Spirit of Antichrist Opposed to Christ (the Anointed One); of great influence over the world and with an anti-anointing for deceptive miracles (Rev. 13:13-14, 2 Thess 2:1-12) The Spirit of Error Spirit behind heretical and erroneous teachings, Matt. 22:29 This strongman flourishes where there is ignorance of Gods Word The spirit of error usually works together with other strongmen such as a lying spirit, spirit of antichrist, seducing spirits, spirit of heaviness, spirit of haughtiness, perverse spirit, familiar spirit, and spirit of divination. The Spirit of Death Spirit behind death. Ex. 12:23 mentions death angel (NLT). There are many testimonies of instances where the spirit of death was rebuked and death people revived. Other Bible Translations use destroyer, meaning Apollyon as mentioned in Rev. 9:11, and referred to in 1 Cor. 10:10 The angel of death is described as a rider on a pale horse in Rev. 6:8 Death is the last enemy to be destroyed (1 Cor. 15:26, Rev. 20:14) after Satan (Rev. 20:10) The destroyer is addressed in 1 Cor. 15:55, from whom Christ came to free us (Heb. 2:14) We will die (transition) physically to be with the LORD (2 Cor. 5:6- 8, Phil. 1:21) but never die spiritually (Jn 11:25-26) The Spirit of Death Spirit behind death.
