Empower Duke’s Global Entrepreneurship Community.
The Duke Innovation Fund is your opportunity to change the face of entrepreneurship at Duke. The Innovation Fund invests alongside the Duke Angel Network to help Duke-affi liated innovators turn groundbreaking ideas into technologies that could change the world.
It’s a crippling problem: new companies worthy of support unable to fi nd critical seed-stage capital to advance their innovations. The Duke Angel Network makes sure the ideas that grow in the Duke community don’t languish for lack of early investment, by investing in companies where a founder, executive, or board member is a Duke University alumnus, faculty or staff member, student, or parent. The Angel Network’s investments represent individual fi nancial decisions

The Duke Innovation Fund breaks through a critical bottleneck in Duke’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.Early-stage funding is scarce in our region and many other regions of the country, especially for many technology spaces important to Duke. Your philanthropic efforts will help us unite the Duke community and build powerful businesses and bring Duke’s world-changing innovation to those who need it most.
The Duke Innovation Fund will become a powerful, evergreen capital pool that sustains itself by recycling the proceeds of successful investments. In turn, the Innovation Fund and the Duke Angel Network will energize the Duke innovation community, facilitating mentorship, sharing and thought leadership among Duke’s globally dispersed entrepreneurial family. Fund investments are made alongside those of the Duke Angel Network, and under the same terms. Those investments rely on the diligence, experience and expertise of the Angel Network members, who invest their own capital alongside every fund investment. The Angel Network also serves as a living laboratory for the Duke students who serve in diligence support roles. Through all of these activities the Innovation Fund and Duke-affi liated companies can grow together, enabling a future where a wider variety and greater number of innovations receive investment support.

The Duke Angel Network, coupled with the Duke Innovation Fund, is a unique and important mechanism for bringing to bear both the expertise of the Duke family and much needed investment capital on the innovations that grow among the Duke community. The effort is a vital component of the larger Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative, and I am excited about the potential of the Network to bring the impact of Duke innovation to life.”
