ACADEMICAN REMARK

I have been working as a lecturer in the university established in 2010, at the

department of Mechanical Engineering since 2012. I chose this university because it

is located in the capital, Ankara and the language of instruction is in English. Its

location in the major city, Ankara also provides social and cultural opportunities to the

students and academicians.

When the developments and targets of our university in the near future are taken into

consideration, it is obvious that the students who graduated from this university are

guaranteed to have qualified missions and position in their business life.

STUDENT OPINION

I am studying at Mechanical Engineering Department of Yıldırım Beyazıt University.

When I had to do choose the university, I was insisted on studying in the department

of mechanical engineering, but I could not decide on the university. My OSYM score

was enough to be accepted to Gazi University Department of Mechanical

Engineering and Hacettepe University Department of Automotive Engineering. Then,

I heard that Yıldırım Beyazıt University is going to accept its first students that year

and the language of instruction is in English. After I did some research about the

department of the university, I found out that the academic staff is quite successful

and devoted individuals. This prompted me to choose to study Yıldırım Beyazıt

University for my study.

The first point that attracted my attention when I started to study in YBU was its

sincere atmosphere. We can easily contact with lecturers, and they are always

concerned with us. They do their best to meet our expectations. The head of

department, the dean, the president accept students and spare time with us. There is

a friendly atmosphere, which compensate for the nonexistence of the campus.

Academician’s Remark

I had no idea as to what sort of university is awaiting me when I applied to the

university. I had concern for being educated at a newly founded but assertive

university. My colleagues helped me to dispel my anxiety. The eagerness to work of

my colleagues and their desire to improve themselves in their profession made me

more eager to work and increased my belief in the realization of our ambitions. We

are taking steps to make our university a distinguished one.

Assoc. Dr. Hüseyin Canbolat

Student’s Remarks

I chose this department because the department is available in the limited numner of

university and the language of instruction is in English. I also believe that the

department of Electrics and Electronics offers more work opportunities than other

engineering disciplines. One of the most primary advantages of the department is that

the language of instruction is 100% in English. Another reason is that the department

gives great importance to the labarotary courses, which gives us the chance to

practice our theorethical acquisition. Lastly, the students can keep in touch with the

instructors, which is an indication of the importance the depertment gives to the

students.

The Department of Material Engineering is an interdisciplianary discipline which is in

a strong relation with the process of the products such as ceramic, metal, polymer

and composite and basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology and chemistry

and mechanical engineering. The “technology-economy-ecology” balance is quite

important in this relation. The production, development, process and testing of most

of the high- technology products used in industry and materials used in daily life is

the primary responsibility of the material engineers. The department offers a wide

application area ranging from the development of high temperature superconductive

ceramic to application of biomedical devices.

The need for material engineers is increasing with the recent develoing technology.

When its relation with other engineering fields, I am of the opinion that material
