Week 6 - Friday 18 November 2016
It’s all about the End of Year Festival!!! Only one week to go until our End of Year Festival at North Sydney Oval and we are all getting very excited!
A note was sent home this week advising of a practice taking place at the Oval on Monday 21 November. Students will walk over to the Oval in grade groups at staggered times to familiarise themselves with where they will be seated and where they will be performing.
For parents and students attending this year’s Festival, our much-loved Grade Student Performances will commence at 4pm directly in front of the Duncan Thompson Stand. As this is a tight turnaround from the end of the school day to the beginning of the first performance, the following run sheet has been provided for parents to familiarise themselves with.
Friday 25 November 2016:
2:15pm - 2:55pm: Students will change into their End of Year Festival costume at school with teachers assisting where appropriate. Please make sure you send your child to school with their costume in a separate marked bag ready for the end of the day.
2:55pm - 3:15pm: Parents will collect children from school and make their way
to North Sydney Oval. Entry will be via the Ridge Street entrance (not the main entry)
3:15pm - 3:55pm: Children will meet in designated grade areas and parents will
be seated in the O’Reilly and Duncan Thompson Stands. 4:00pm -5:00pm: Student Performances in the following grade order: Year 1,
Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Kindergarten and Year 6
5:00pm - 9:00pm: Festival
Of course this great event wouldn’t be possible without our P&C Festival Committee who has been working tirelessly to ensure that we have the best festival ever. Most of the hard work is done and we now require 80 volunteers to help for just one hour each on the night. If you have an hour to spare please register your availability at http://signup.com/go/MUWPtj
Rides passes are now available to purchase online at www.trybooking.com/237053
Please see the P&C pages in this newsletter for more information about the donation of items needed and the silent auction.

Year Six Fair
Well done to Year 6 who organised and hosted a fantastic Year 6 Fair for the students of North Sydney Dem on Wednesday. Our Year 6 students prepared and served at multiple stalls including face painting, hair spraying, a haunted house, hot dogs, milo and some great side show alley games. Our younger students had enormous pleasure dunking their teachers in the dunking machine (some may say too much pleasure!). Well done Year 6! It was a great day and congratulations for raising $2400 for the Year 6 school gift. Keep making those memories!

Talent Fest 2016
Ready, set, go! Registrations for the SRC’s annual Talent Fest opened this week. We are looking forward to some dazzling entertainment! Class teachers will ensure that children have ample opportunity to register over the next two weeks.
Once registered, your child will bring home a registration note detailing when they will perform and who they can send music files to.
There are a few things to remember when entering Talent Fest:
1. this is a fun event open to all students and is judged by the SRC representatives (Kindergarten to Year 6);
2. students must bring their own instruments and props (there is a piano as well as microphones, gym mats and music stands in the Hall that students can use);
3. if you want music to accompany your act you must send your music as an mp3 file via email (please list your name and song title in the email) to your Grade’s Talent Fest co-ordinator (as listed on the registration note).
Creative Arts Evaluation Parent Survey
This year one of our minor program evaluations focuses on Creative Arts. The parent survey opens on Friday 18 November and closes on Friday 9 December. Please click on the survey link to complete https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/L57FGKS
K-2 Gardening Club The K-2 Gardening Club harvested some of the beetroot that we have grown and made a delicious Beetroot Salad. It was a huge success. All the children tried the beetroot (some for the first time) and enjoyed the salad. The K-2 Gardening Club meets every Thursday (first half lunch) – all K-2 students welcome!
FABStar!
FABStar! is an initiative to recognise
positive behaviours in the
playground. A FABStar! slip was
drawn from all the students who
received FABStar! slips in
recognition of their positive
behaviours on the playground last
week.
The K-2 Fabstar! this week is Caelan from Year 1 who found some toys in the playground after school and brought them back the next day. Thanks Caelan for thinking of others and for your honesty!
The Year 3-6 Fabstar!s this week are Matias, Marley and Pasquale from Year 5 who kindly helped a younger student to pick up his cards after he had dropped them.
