    petition in North America calledthe Bittercold Showdown. I wonthird place. First place went toa man from Australia and sec-ond place went to a man fromFrance.

    The Bittercold Showdown washeld in Roal Oak, Michigan anddrew the best inline skaters fromaround the globe.

    Trucksville recently enjoyed anovernight camping trip to thePhiladelphia Zoo.

    The Scout s arriv ed at the zooearly in the evening and were

    treated to live animal demon-strations, games, snacks and anevening hike through the zoo tosee animals that are more activeafter the sun goes down.

    The Scou ts, their parents and

    leaders then stayed overnightin the tree house at the zoo andspent the next day touring thezoo on their own.

    Sarah Stacey found herself in an unfa-miliar situation for the Robert L. DolbearSenior Girls All-Star Softball Game.

    Stacey started the game on the bench,something she never did during her four-year career at Lake-Lehman.

    She was a starter since her freshmanyear and played every single inning of everygame, Lake-Lehman coach Wayne Oplingersaid. Were naming an award after her, theSarah Stacey Ironwoman Award. Oplingersaid the award will recognize a player annu-ally for leadership and dedication to theteam.

    Stacey received the award, which includesa small scholarship, from the Lake-LehmanSoftball Booster Club.

    Stacey did her best to provide leadership

    to a struggling West team in the all-stargame for recent graduates from WyomingValley Conference teams.

    The East opene d a 14-0 lead in the first 4 innings of the nine-inning game, playedJune 21 at the W.W. Kubis Memorial Fieldin Dallas.

    Stacey singled in the sixth inning andcame around to score one of two West runsin the inning on the way to cutting the finalEast margin of victory to 15-4.

    I wasnt used to it, Stacey said of com-ing off the bench.

    The West team kept battl ing in whatcould have turned into a discouraginggame.

    The whole thing was fun, Stacey said.By the time the game ended, six players

    on the West team had produced at leastone hit. Five of those players came from

    Lake-Lehman, Dallas or Tunkhannock.Lake-Lehman had two of the games

    double in extra innings for the teams onlywin of the season, started in right field.

    Cadwalder went 1-for-2.Vicky worked so hard to make herself a

    great player, Oplinger said of Cadwalder,pointing out that she led the division indoubles as a junior and hit multiple homeruns this year. She worked hard to makeherself a better all-around hitter.

    Brennan went 0-for-1.Taylor Baker represen ted Dallas and was

    the starting pitcher for the West.Baker went 1-for-2 and scored a run.

    and he loves to meet andtalk to people. He is akind, happy, friendly, ath-letic person and has greatleadership abilities. Hedoes have a competitivenature and all of our kidshave this type of internaldrive, determination, Iguess, that makes theirinterests not just inter-ests but intense, focuseddedication.

    Wake would like moreyoung people to get inter-ested in inline skatingand has advice for thosewho would like to skate.

    You should alwayswear a helmet and pro-tective knee and elbowpads because even theprofessional skaters fall,he said. If you can, goto a local skatepark andwatch skaters; that helpsyou. If not, you can lookup videos on YouTube.
