Early Spring Edition Plastic Bag Recycling By 2050, the ocean will have more plastic than fish in it. For this reason, Tori Geehreng has set up a few different projects to help fight this issue. First, she has started a reusable bag sale and reusable bag design competition. Tori has also started collecting the plastic bags used in the lunchroom. The reusable bag design that wins the competition will be printed on the reusable bags. These bags will be sold and all the profits will go to charities that help to protect our oceans. The plastic bags collected from the lunchroom will be given to a charity that will turn them into plarn, plarn is a fabric made out of plastic. With the plarn they will make mats for homeless people. Over 1,000 bags have been collected already and Tori goes through each of them to make sure they are in good condition to be turned into plarn. Tori is doing this for her girl scout gold award project. She chose this specific topic because she has an interest in helping the environment and she felt that something needed to be done. Mrs. Tate, Mr. Said, Mr. Gomez, and Hannah Crowson have been helping her with this project. Although this is not a school connected project, Mrs. McNeil is Tori’s “sponsor”. Tori hopes to eliminate plastic silverware in the cafeteria completely and change to using metal. Although she is a senior, Tori does not want this project to stop after she leaves, but rather to pass it on to someone else. What sports will be available? All sports will follow COVID 19 safety protocols until told otherwise. There will be soccer for elementary and middle school, flag football for middle school, and something brand new this year eSports. The eSports that will be available are FIFA 21, NBA 2K21, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. You will be able to play these games on PC/ XBOX One/ PlayStation 4/ Nintendo Switch. They will also have a functional fitness program that will be held at the Youth Center after school. What ages can participate? Soccer will be for 3-15 year olds, but flag football will be for 12-15 year olds. While Esports will be for 7-18 year olds, but they will be in different age divisions. The functional fitness program will be available for anyone who can go to CYS. Is everything going to be outside? Soccer and football will be held outside, while functional fitness will be held inside the CYS building? How do they comply with the Host Nation (Belgium Rules) when they plan their sports season? Godzilla vs King Kong is an upcoming movie by Adam Wingard. This movie had a budget between $160- 200 million dollars. This movie has a rating of PG-13 because of fighting monsters and destruction in cities. In this movie, King Kong and Godzilla fight to see who is the King of the Monsters/Titans. The cast of this movie is Mille Bobby Brown, Julian Dennison, Alexander Skarsgard, Eiza Gonzalez, Rebecca Hall, Zhang Ziyi, and Brian Tyree Henry. This Movie is said to release March 25, 2021.
Ghostbusters Afterlife is an upcoming film by Jason Reitman. This movie has a rating of PG-13. In this movie, two kids and their mother move to a small town, and discover secrets of the ghostbusters left from their grandfather. The cast of this movie is Bill Murray, Finn Wolfhard, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, and Sigourney Weaver. This movie is said to release on November 10, 2021.
Shang Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings is an upcoming film by Destin Daniel Cretten. The movie is rated PG-13. Shang-Chi is a master of numerous unarmed and weaponry-based wushu styles, including the use of the gun, nunchaku, and jian. The cast of the movie are Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Florian Munteau, Tony Leung, Fala Chen, Michelle Yeoh, Ronny Chieng, and Rosalind Chao. The movie is said to release on July 9, 2021.

● 8 crackers of any kind ● 8 ounces of cheddar cheese● 1 cup of baby carrots● 8 black olives, canned● 1 cup of spinach or lettuce
Directions:1) Lay the crackers out on a plate or table2) Cut the cheese into circles that will fit on the crackers3) Cut carrots into small pieces to resemble the feathers. Cut another carrot into 24
small pieces. 16 will be used for the feet and 8 will be used for the beak, cut into triangles
4) Cut pieces from the olive to make eyes for each chick. Place on spinach or lettuce to rest on.
