The crucible

Pounded by the scrolls of time

Lay the deepest secret of this rhyme

How oft have you wondered why

Those blessed then more than I

And when they be happier than thee

You may fall in utter envy

Then What maketh them lofty and glee

Your tarnished heart but cannot see

They ride their lives through nature's way

A path of unfathomable sway

Yet they notice not a storm

That passes them to and from

I know not their great nobility

Yet I shall seek this treasured ability

Why they see not with fearful eyes

A treasure trove within us belies

Every man but proclaiming his faith

Feels not his hearts great weight

A vengeful rife carried within

Borne from original sin

Page 2: The Crucible

No life can lead without vain

A craving heart but learns the pain

What then may come an abrased test

The silence of the solemn breast

Could it be that I could be

The thing I could never see

A road through which brambles lay

Not a single word uttered what may

Ever wondered why blessed are they

To you they show the ultimate way

That you may lead through thick and thin

A tainted heart forever silenced within
