Page 3: The Crack Shot - Four Corners Rifle and Pistol Club (4CRP ... · The Crack Shot Newsletter of the ... plans for the Four Corners Rifle & Pistol Club’s Fall Bullseye Pistol ... Do

establish your group placement on Wednesday, November 16th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Indoor Range. Shooters may also use last years ending league score, shooter’s choice. League shooting will begin on November

23th and continue for 8 weeks until January 11th..

Shooters will be divided into Red Dot and Iron Sight categories and we also will have an Off The Chart category

for new shooters. Each night everyone will shoot 30 rounds of center fire and 30 rounds of .22 rim fire on 3 targets in each category at a distance of 50 feet. Eye & ear protection is required for all shooters. Weekly practice

will be on Saturdays from 9:00 to 11:00AM . Shooter fees will be $20.00 for club members and $30.00 for

nonmembers payable at qualifying or first league night. There will also be a $2.00 fee for targets at the practice sessions. The range will be open for practice on Wednesday November 2, Saturday November 5, Wednesday

November 9 and Saturday November 12 prior to qualifying night.

The League is really a lot of fun. If you want to improve you pistol shooting skills and compete against other shooters of a similar skill level, sign up at Shooter’s World or call Roger Lawrence at 882-2636. See you

there!

EXTRA PRACTICE TIMES -- Hal Shepherd (Indoor Range Manager) is offering us 3 pre-league practice sessions. 10-11:30am on Sept. 24, Oct 1 and Oct 15th.

● WOMEN ON TARGET (WOT) “GRADUATES” KEEP ON SHOOTING THROUGH NEWLY FORMED WOMEN

SHOOTING TOGETHER (WST). Club member, Carol Heifner has organized a group of WOT “grads” that meet

once a month to work on the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program (MQP) to improve target shooting skills. There is also an emphasis on fun and friendship. The last Outdoor range Shoot is 10/1 9-11 . After

that the group will meet at the Indoor range at a time to be announced. The Shoots are overseen by Range Safety Officers with a desired ratio of two women shooters per RSO. WST is quite excited about the new RSOs

that will be available after 10/8, when a large number of club members will become RSOs. Without them, they couldn’t do this. Many Thanks to all the RSOs who have helped in the past and future. Currently, the club

membership is at capacity and only 3 months old! Carol continues to seek advice and guidance from NRA and has

also approached several shooting related companies for donations. She is also working on a Grant for the MQP. Tandemkross helped donate items for September’s Shoot. See the web page we are just setting up, for further

information or contact Carol at [email protected]

Ellis, and LuAnn Meyer for doing all of the organizing and cooking, and to all of those who helped with food and set-up !

Range Safety Rules

Treat every firearm as if it were loaded. Never point a firearm at anything you do not intend to destroy.

Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire. Keep the firearm on safe until you intend to fire.

All Federal State, and Local firearm laws must be obeyed.

Safety is of paramount importance to everyone on the range and it is our top priority.

All personnel utilizing the range complex for recreational firing will adhere to the safe storage, handling, and use of firearms and ammunition. All firearms not on the firing line will be unloaded and racked with actions opened and magazines removed.

1. All junior members and shooters under eighteen years of age will shoot/fire under the supervision of a qualified adult.

2. Fully automatic firearms, and Tracer and/or AP ammunition is prohibited unless a training event or demonstration is scheduled with the Outdoor Range Officer prior to the event.

3. Firearms will be un-cased and cased at the firing line only with the actions open/safe, muzzle pointed downrange and in a safe direction at all times. Firearms that are carried to the range UN-cased will have their actions opened and/or flagged, unloaded magazines, and with the firearm’s safety placed on safe.

4. IF A “CEASE FIRE” IS CALLED FOR ANY REASON - Stop Shooting IMMEDIATELY and remove your finger from the trigger. Depending on the reason for the cease fire, all firearms shall then be unloaded, magazines removed, actions open, and/or chamber flags placed into the open action and pointed in a safe direction downrange if it is not feasible to physically rack the firearm.

5. Shooters are not permitted forward of the red line or to handle their firearms, scopes, or anything on the bench while a cease-fire is in force and people are downrange.

6. Any person not complying with the above safety rules or who becomes disruptive will be removed from the range and will be banned from the use of the range until the matter is brought before the Club Executive Committee for adjudication.

7. Members are totally responsible for the conduct and actions of their guests. Members will ensure that their guests comply with these and all other Club rules while at the range and will never leave guests unattended at the range.

9. ABOVE ALL – PLEASE BE COURTEOUS – WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR EACH OTHER’S SAFETY – ALL FIREARMS MUST BE MADE SAFE PRIOR TO GOING DOWNRANGE BY OPENING AND/OR FLAGGING ACTIONS, REMOVING THE BOLT, OR RACKING THE FIREARM IF FEASIBLE. REMEMBER - EVERYONE AROUND YOU HAS A LOADED FIREARM – USE COMMON SENSE AND ESPECIALLY COMMON COURTESY AT ALL TIMES.

Personal Protective Equipment REQUIRED

Hearing and Eye protection will be worn at all times by all personnel on the firing line and in the immediate area of a
