A team has been put together, has met frequently, and has been

prayerfully developing a new vision statement for CUMC. As they have

worked on this project, the following scriptures have been applied to

the “connect, grow, serve model” and have helped lead to a vision

statement that is in the final stages of approval.

CONNECTING with God and others…

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Matthew 22: 37b-39

GROWING in grace and knowledge…

“…grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the end of eternity.”

2 Peter 3:18

SERVING our community and world…

“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belongs the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.”

Giving online at Carmel United Methodist Church is simple, easy and fast.

The "Online Giving" page through our website allows you to make contributions online to our various funds. Online giving also gives you the ability to view and print your own contribution statements and track your giving throughout the year.

You can give online with a credit card or directly from your bank account. Both can be set up for scheduled (recurring) contributions. You can designate your donation for General Operations, Faith Promise, Making Room, or one of the many ministries or missions sponsored by CUMC.

CUMC STAFF NEWS

We Welcome Mike Podgorski, Minister of Local Outreach

Please welcome Mike Podgorski as a new part-time member of

the CUMC Staff as the Minister of Local Outreach effective Jan-

uary 1st. He will be responsible for coordination, connection,

and communication of local missions with the congregation, staff

and the community. Mike and his wife Martina began visiting

CUMC in 1994 then joined in 1995. Both of their daughters Me-

gan and Maddie grew up in the church and have many fond

Mike is known to many as "the Angel Tree guy" because he has championed that mission since 1995. He

was also the part time Building Manager at CUMC from 2000 to 2006. He felt a calling to public safety at a

very young age and served on the Pike Township Fire Department from 1981 before retiring in 2014 after

ESL @ Carmel UMC provides the unique opportunity to transform lives through education. Anyone with a willing heart can become part of this ministry-no experience is required to teach conversational English.

Opportunities exist for tutors, prayer partners, hospitality, resource development, and grant writing experience. Evening tutors are especially needed as many new English learners are working during the day.

Why should you volunteer? This is what Nancy Adams, current volunteer shares, “Who could ever have guessed that so many people in a Methodist Church in Indiana would be willing to help Egyptian immigrants? It's really an unbelievable story and a testament to the power of the Holy Spirit quietly working among us. It reminds me of one of the pillars of Dr. Blackaby's study, Experiencing God. "God is at work all around you. Look to see where He is working and join Him there."

“Love Does”

Love is not a noun...it’s a verb.

Faith comes alive when we DO the love of God. God’s

love isn’t just a bunch of rules or stuff we have to agree

with. God’s love it different. It changes things. It’s

active. It works. It risks.

God’s love...does.

How can I participate?

Join a 5-week small group to study God’s love and

how it changes the way we love others.

Sign up at www.carmelumc.org or in the Gathering

Place on Sunday mornings.

7 Reasons to Join a Small Group:

1. You will understand the Bible better in a

group.

2. You will begin to really feel like part of

God’s family.

pressure better.

5. You will feel more comfortable talking

about your faith story with friends and

family.
