This is no coincidence. Students in theMEMS program are well prepared for currentindustry processes. Micro-Electrical MechanicalSystems – or MEMS – is anemerging technologythat uses micro and sub-micro scale electroniccomponentsto create mechanical devices andcomponents such as sensors, valves, gears,andmechanical actuators. These componentsare o en embedded in printed circuitboardsand semiconductor chips. The field requiresknowledge in computerscience, electronics, andmechanics and requires you to perform work onamicroscopic level. As a new technology, thereis unlimited growth poten al andthe opportunityto work on groundbreaking devices.At first, Ms.Washington was not sure she wanted to go backto college, the decision became clear a ershebegan a paid internship and receivedindustry- relatedtraining as part of hereduca on.
